    Hi all

Quick question - for my friends little girl's first birthday next month - Aqua draw (on MFD's recommendation from the pic a while back) or Mega blocks??

Or any other good ideas? Spend of 10-15 pound (but got a code for £25 off £50 at Great Universal so maybe buy 2 aquadraw and save one for C?)

    Thank you xxx

    Morning all,

Had a lie in until 10.30 as DH was on duty this morning. Apparently H woke up loads in the night ha ha :rotfl:That's my girl! Not that I want DH to be lacking sleep, but it does him good to think that I am up so often (although he is prone to exaggeration!)

I think I agree about the maintenance too.
If you genuinely can't afford it then that's fine - I would say that the daughter can't go. But if you can afford it then you should help out. If she is going to fundraise the rest of the money, then she is trying to contribute herself. At 18, yes, she should probably have a part time job, but you don't have to stop being a parent and helping them out just because your child turns 18, particularly if you want them to stay on in education. I guess it's quite a tricky balance as he has 2 families to pay for and therefore money won't stretch the same. But they are still his responsibility as much as his new family are.

    She'll be one SM.

As far as the course is concerned, if you will find it interesting - go for it. No reason why you can't do at all:D. Just be prepared to set aside the time to do it - you really need to be disciplined to work/have kids and study (I worked full time and did my MSc) but if you'll find it interesting, you'll be wanting to do it IYSWIM.

    HTH xxx

ETA Thanks Weezl (and for the info re short gap in pg's - we'll obviously have at least 12 months between (if we get lucky at all!) but it's always nice to have food for thought). Her dad's a builder so I though the blocks might be good lol xxx

I have a friend who is running in the London Marathon. It looks like it has rained, has it? She was dreading the temperatures as it was supposed to be really hot apparently.

EA - Yes, it could be a growth spurt. I would be reluctant to put Lily on Hungry Baby Milk too quickly. Discuss it with your HV first if you are thinking about it. How much does she take at a feed? If she is finishing the bottle, up the amount you give her. I think she would need to be feeding really regularly for a couple of weeks before I would up the amount. If she is hungry, maybe more milk rather than water would help fill her up? I am not sure about water as we never gave H any until she started on solids. I think you should speak to your HV for advice.

On subject of older children, I find it difficult to understand the need for designer clothing items these days. I was well dressed and never wanted for anything as a child but never had or wanted designer things. I suppose the only thing I was fussy about was trainers, but even at that, I didn't want Dunlop or something, but didn't care exactly which brand I had etc. It's just alien to me, as even now, I would hate to wear anything with a label!! I find it embarrassing. Obviously it's just a change in attitudes and culture.
I wouldn't want my daughter to be embarrassed or picked on, and I feel it is good for her to learn the value of money from an earlier age than I did. I do think you need to get the balance correct though.
She will never just be given everything she wants, and I do believe in limiting toys and stuff throughout the year and not getting everything she wants for Christmas, but if I can afford for her to have certain stuff then I would not withold them deliberately at the expense of her happiness in relation to school/bullying.

EA, i think u need to speak to ur HV, as it sounds to me like she's filling up on water which then makes her tummy extra hungry when the milk comes (just guessing here). I'm fairly confident that the advice is that babies don't need water at that age. She needs lots of fat and vitamins from milk!! It's impossible to feed too much, so just give her what she wants. Also, 6 weeks is deffo a growth spurt point. Also again, lol, please take care of ur body if ur ttc so quickly. I'd be worried about ur health so soon aftee giving birth n taking care of a newborn...make sure ur gp gives the all clear. I'll stop being mother henish now, lol.

Sm, what have u got to lose? I say go for it! The worst that can happen is u absolutely hate it and u have to drop the course.
