    Hello all :)

Still waiting for laptop :( Caitlyn is fast asleep in bed behind me, not catching up as no doubt she'll wake up before I've had chance to finish! Is there anything important I've missed??

Oh - one thing I did catch - Yay Caitlyn!!! 5 steps!!

Well, DSD1 has asked DH for some money towards a deposit for a trip to Madagascar in 2012. He pays maintenance every month to her mum, and we can ill afford any more. But it will make him look bad if he says he can't afford to give any. She says her mum will try and raise some money (she doesn't work), so we said to see what she could save herself (she gets EMA £30 per week), see what her mum can give and then we'd see about the rest. Does that sound reasonable to you? TBH we want to see what her mum is giving first - she gets all the tax credits and child benefit for her whereas we get nothing, but DH pays her every month too.

    Nightmare, Caz, how embarrassing

PN, nothing in particular except rubbish communication between OH and me that left me babyproofing by myself with only the seething chip on my shoulder for company. And then we went out and nothing went right.

  • That sounds expensive, pinkpig. How much is the trip gonna cost?

I forgot to say yay for Krystal's Caitlyn walking! That is awesome news.

SM- saw your fb pics today and it looks like you all had fun. I think we need to get a paddling pool for this summer.

Love you avvy SS. Is it new, or have I just not noticed it before?

Well the total cost of the trip is £745, but the deposit is £200 and she needs it ASAP. She can fundraise the rest of the money. TBH I feel it's a bit cheeky (think her mum's behind it) asking DH when he already pays maintenance. He's within his rights to say no but how would that make him look?? The trip is to gain experience of teaching in another country and she says it would look good on her UCAS application as she wants to be a teacher. He'll be paying her mum £250 next weekend too.

  • Hmm, how old is DSD? Could she get a job to raise some of it herself if you lent her some of the deposit for now? It does sound like an awesome trip though!

Pinkpig, could he set up a savings account with a small amount going in each week that he won't notice going? eg, I send £2 a week into Aimee's savings instead of giving her pocket money to spend... She's got over £300 in there now (inc other contributions) so it all mounts up... Does she just want spending money or is it to pay for the actual trip? Sometimes, if you get free school meals then you don't have to pay for the trips either, (if it's a school trip, that is...) might be worth mentioning to DSD's Mum? Also, how many step children are there? Will the others follow with outstretched hands?

SS, sorry your day's been crappy!
A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... I do pity my husband though, he's the one to suffer the hormones...
Krystal is so smart and funny and wonderful I am struck dumb in awe in her presence.
