I don't know but one of the sites i wandered across was talking about internal decapitation, and how the risks of that happening while rear facing were basically hardly any. I didn't save any links though  :o

Hmm...the new car seat doesn't go in rearward facing very well. He is sitting up pretty well, so maybe I'll try leaving him in his old car seat for a little while before switching. Will research - thanks!

Neck muscles aren't strong enough IIRC. The woman in Mothercare said that although they can sit up when they ar 4-5months they are using their tummy muscles and not their back & neck muscles for support. J sat up from around 4-5months but I've definitely seen a change in the way he sits up now compared to then.

Rear facing for as long as possible is safest - I got the Britax First Class Plus. You can keep them rear facing in these seats for longer than you can the newborn style with the handle.

I get car sick if I'm in the back of any car facing forward! :o In fact unless I drive I'm likely to puke _pale_

Where does the time go?

Just rechecked our one on order...says it can face rearward until their 18lbs! Score. Guess we'll shift him round once his legs start going up the back of the seat!

Ps they can stay in the rearward stage0 until their head is at the top of the seat (therefore no longer offering protection, Edgar is 19lb and still fits fine in his maxi cosi cabrio :D although if they have looong legs or are very strong they might not like it much!

Yeah, I had heard that. His head now hits the sunshade when it's pulled back though, so I think it's about time for a move.

V has also decided that sleep isn't a good thing. :( She's been a nightmare going to bed, as soon as we get to the bedroom she starts crying. I've been so spoilt because she's been so good up til now. :(
Erin had a screaming fit today as she wanted to go to bed and we were at the inlaws! she would not settle at all until she was in the car and on her way home! she refuses to sleep in her pram and car seat and is only happy headin up the stairs to bed lol! hope you get the bedtime crying to stop!
