When I was in Mothercare they said that they can only go forward facing when they can sit up properly so around 8-9 months regardless of weight. I had thought they could go forward once they reached 20lbs so got one that goes forward and rear facing. Might be worth checking. :)

He's stayed down for now but who knows how long it will last?

    Off to bed now

Hmm...the new car seat doesn't go in rearward facing very well. He is sitting up pretty well, so maybe I'll try leaving him in his old car seat for a little while before switching. Will research - thanks!

If it was me i'd see how the nappies are tomorrow and if still watery i'd prob ask the GP?

Andrea your chunk is a week older than mine! I don't know what she weighs now though, but nowhere near that :D She was only 7lb3oz born :p

(is it bad i had to work out how many weeks she is on a website, lol!)

Haha, Nope. I generally have no idea how many weeks he is! Just know Sam's because I was at the clinic today! So your daughter was a true Christmas baby then, eh?

There is a lot of evidence it is best to have them rear facing as long as possible.. up to age 4 some are saying.

Lol. Lurking and laughing. Maybe us Scots all look the same?

Hello to the newbies. Just had a quick scan. Went to make soup and came back to loads of posts!
6 weeks is a growth spurt supposedly I think, so if baby is sleeping more and eating a bit less, maybe it could be that? As others have said, as long as he is alert when awake and has wet and dirty nappies, it's probably just a change of habit.

Csh - thanks for telling me your work pattern, now I can really stalk you!

Didn't know there were BF support workers who specialised in expressing. Where was she when Sam was born. Elle, I'd love to chat with you about a couple things :)

Can you buy rear facing for bigger than stage 0? I know Susan supports it too, just didn't know much about it myself. Her blog led me to some sites which basically proved it's much safer to be rear facing, so why don't we do it in this country?

I was about to say Susan has Alice rear facing - you can gets seats, but they're few and far between.

I think I should go to bed. V is with MIL tomorrow, and I plan to tackle L's bedroom.

Is the only reason they suggest it so that they don't get whiplash? Sam hates facing backwards...and I know for me personally I get carsick facing backwards.
