Will await her reply (and carry on!) We're seeing one of the consultants tomorrow (heart scan) so might sound him out on his thoughts if the chance arises.. :o

I'm sure that thing happens a lot more often than we realise. Officially they are protected here but in practice, who is to know what really happens? In the US people have survived abortions (because the limit can be up to birth depending on the state) - Gianna Jessen is quite famous as a pro-life speaker.

I don't want to comment on abortions, but can you imagine how the parents feel? Can't imagine they made an easy choice and then to find out that their baby survived it must be terrible.

It's the doctors that have made me angry, out of sight out of mind!

Tara, I know. I thought they gave a shot of something to stop the heart of the baby first? So that this didn't happen?

I originally typed that as foetus, but it seemed wrong.

It's a horrible story, and like you said an awful decision for the parents. But the doctors failed to stop the suffering of the baby, they should be prosecuted.

My first thought was 'oh that poor woman' she must have gone through hell to make a decision like that at that stage and the awful additional trauma that this must have caused.

They should, that should not happen, ever. As I said, they are supposed to stop the babies heart before inducing labour so there is no way the baby is born alive. And then some serious checks.

It's disgusting that it has happened.
