Indeed. It's hard enough to make a decision as to how you'll feed your baby and get used to feeding/routines/demand/sterilising/pumping/discreetly nursing in public without misinformation, and a lack of unhysterical, neutral-toned information does nobody any good. I feel for women who try to nurse and aren't able to, but I don't look down on women who just don't think it's for them either -- I just think the choice should be available, without prejudice, to all women.
I totally agree and am totally pro-choice. I just think that this article is thoroughly repellent and am disappointed in M&B. That is all.
I'm afraid I can't help on the Healthy Start vouchers, CAFC, but you might as well apply I guess. They can only say no....:DYummy mummy, runner, baker and procrastinator0 -
Cafc, they're about a fiver a week and you get them if you get more than the basic level of ctc but not wtc... We're not elligible for them because of wtc... We don't get free school meals because of it too... A real case of giving it you with one hand and taking it away with the other!A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... Thanks everyone re. the visit on Weds. She's already arranged it with both neighbours too so the paranoia in me is wondering if they might do somethings to cushion the sound, like disconnect any surround sound, turn off any bass settings etc...
So side A the problem is the banging AND the TV, but the banging is obviously worse. Last few days it's improved but that's happened before and it always goes back to being unbearable.
Side B my issue is with their TV which the HO doesn't seem to see as a problem as it's mainly heard in my kitchen, but i don't see why i should only be able to use half of my house in peace (if i had the luxury of quiet neighbours the other side).
So on Wednesday she's coming with their support worker (no idea which side she is SW of, or what she "supports" them with?). She said she's going to send their SW in to their house, while HO stays with me in mine. She wants SW to go into Side A's kitchen and "put a teaspoon down" / "generally potter around in there".
But i just KNOW the SW is gonna go in there and potter around like a normal human being would. NOTHING like what they actually do, because they are seriously heavy handed and they also slam their doors a lot but if the Sw is in there banging hard, then surely Side A will be like "well !!!!!! we don't do that" when they blatantly do.
I just don't understand at all HOW this is going to help. I said "so when we've established that we can hear their banging, then what?
HO said "IF we establish you hear it (ok bint, stop implying i'm lying)... then i will consider asking the (whoever) to loan us the recording equipment".
Now ok, this is what i wanted a long time ago. But i'm worried. The TV from Side A is a room away and i hear it but sometimes it's a faint drone, i'm obviously just sensitised to it now so hear it. What if it doesn't pick it up and they think i'm a liar?? Or mental. Or both...
The banging..... well it's intermittent and apparently the equipment records for 5 minutes once i press record, how can i predict that they're gonna have a major banging session, or just a few odd ones and come back in 10 mins for more? If i only manage to grab recordings of a couple of pathetic bangs then they won't action it will they???
I fear the type of noise they make isn't going to work with this equipment. Side B well i'm quite confident it will pick it up but then it just depends on what they deem "acceptable"???
I just know it's not going to work. As far as HO will be concerned it'll be case closed, smug neighbours making my life hell, and me with nowhere to run.
I doubt the HV would want to get involved and i haven't even spoken to her for ages, the one who met me last week is a trainee midwife and so won't have anything to do with me on that level.
I saw Susan's offer too and totally forgot to say thank you!! I imagine it'd be too late to get her onboard now but i will totally be taking up her offer if i'm forced into any dodgy meetings.
If i have to get my mam over i will tell her to be silent, when HO comes i will have my TV off. I don't always have it on so i don't want her basing the noise on "whether it can be heard over mine" Why should i have to drown it out if i want to sit without the tv on in my own home???
Fitz - no i'm not looking after the Brat anymore, finally got rid of him for good :j
Sorry, mammoth post, but all of this has been going on since Sept, first complaint wasn't til Dec, and i've been getting fobbed off ever since. They doubt me, and it makes me doubt myself.0 -

Should i be ringing the docs about the runaway coil btw? I don't think i want a mirena again i hated the cramping.
But then by coincidence (or not??) i'm now having a period and it's sooooo heavy and crampy and it makes me want to stick at it with the mirena cos if it makes them lighter then that's gotta be worth it? Argh i dunno!! Not fancying hormonal stuff at all, never have, but cba with these periods they last a week so i spend a quarter of my life aching and changing tampons every half hour.0 -

Just going to bed Beenie, but I would probably phone the docs. However, I know nothing about coils etc. I remain quite ignorant when it comes to womenly things, despite giving birth! I am on the pill (no idea if it's the combined pill etc). My periods are really heavy if I am not on it. But it's never crossed my mind to try anything else.
Night anyway, x0 -
Think we have a sick baby... he was very hot last night (couldn't find our thermometer anywhere...) and quite fragile, wouldn't eat much, Calpoled at bedtime and he slept through til 5am... booby put him back down til 5.40. He is very hot still and re-Calpoled. No other symptoms though0

*wanders in looking refreshed* Do you remember I said everyone would know when Celia finally slept through well:
Last night at the grand old age of one year, nine months and four days Celia SLEPT THROUGH THE NIGHT for the first time ever! (7.45 - 6.45!)Comping, freebieing and trying to pay the mortgage off early!0 -
Well done Celia!!!
Bruno, sometimes they have random non-illnesses... Sometimes it just clears up, sometimes it can be a water infection...
We had a much better night too... Kind of... For the past couple of nights Hubby's left the cats out of the kitchen (they've been put in there for bed since C was born... Not that we don't trust them... But you know... We don't lol) Anyway... Mr Fussypants managed to take me from rolling over half asleep to wide awake at 4am by climbing on me and rubbing against my hand... I chucked him off 3 times and he wondered off... 2 mins later Caitlyn is stood in the cot having a whinge... When I went in to her the bloody cat was in the cot... I kicked him out though, and settled her back down (twice) and went back to bed myself... I heard her having a little chatter to herself, and then she went back off until Hubby's alarm woke her at 20 past 6She's in a much better mood for it too!!!

Wahhhhh the man up the street can't get time off work to accompany me on Weds when the council bint does her STUPID "teaspoon experiment". AKA make Beenie out to be a psycho liar.
Hugs Beenie, what a terrible situation to be in. I hope you can find help and support from someone soon:grouphug:
hammy.. re paed appt.. Urgent appointments usually take 6 weeks to come through. Have you had a letter saying they have received the referral? If not I'd try ringing the appointment office, they can usually give an idea of how long it will be... and will sometimes make a decent appt over the phone.. if you know which consultant he has been referred to you can ring the main switchboard and ask to speak to the paediatric consultants secretaries and they will be able to tell you if an appointment has been made already.
Thanks pigpen,no we haven't had any letter yet. I will try the appointment office in the hope I can get somewhere. Thank youHammy, please don't feel like you need to lurk. We missed you. I'd call to ask when the appointment will be too, and I wish I could do something.
My throat is itchy, and although I am incredibly tired I need to eat some toast or something before (going back to) bed, I think.
Thank you :kisses3:. How are you feeling this morning?
Bruno - I hope E is OK and not just hot from this humid weather :grouphug:
Our night was predictably bad :wall:. He first woke at 10.45 then at every single hour until I gave up at 4.30 , He has had diarrhea for the last day and a half so I think teeth might be on the way soon * confused*
I love my jeans but this is :rotfl:
:T Well done Celia and Caitlyn :T
Fitzio, D was born 17/11 so I think there is 2 months between them but our HV thinks D is advanced simply because he is awake so much more than babies should be so has more time to practice :rotfl:The one thing children wear out faster than shoes is parents:D
