I also think it was a mistake to wait until 25 weeks to give it, since a great deal of the healthy eating benefits would be too late by then, ie folate (should be up to 13.3 weeks)I didn't get it because they didn't have it when Alice was born but I would choose to eat healthily and would spend more if I thought it necessary regardless of whether the government gave me a grant. I believe though the actual purpose of it was to ensure people received antenatal care because not receiving it or delaying it is a risk factor. I imagine it could make a difference to people who were really that skint but aside from people who have got into debt in the past I find it hard to imagine how anyone could be that short that the money would make a difference and if they were that short of money that it could make a difference they would probably have higher priorities anyway.
I was lucky that we had enough cash for me to build the HipGrant into our budget, knowing I would get it IYSWIM?
But some folk would actually have to wait to get it, but tht's possibly to late.
And hello by the way
And Glam, yes I am a very good girl

Charlotte wasn't potty trained until a couple of months before her 3rd birthday. She showed no interest in it before that, and when I tried putting her in knickers, she just wet them and then was upset because she was wet.
She still has a nappy on at night. I put her on the toilet to "squeeze a wee wee out" just before she goes to bed, but the nappy is still really wet the next morning. Here I go again on my own....0 -
theres some joiners here, dont actually know how many, maybe 2 maybe 3? big hole in the kids bedroom that they could jump down onto the stairs.
very tired because Amber is very poorly and was up all night.0 -
Aww what's up with Amber?
SB he'd be ok there but unless his cousins were there i don't want him going cos she'd only be on her laptop ignorning him, she's a proper muppet. I won't EVER be leaving Amber with her though. My sister has her babysit her kids and said the other week that her 2yo was in his bed crying and red hot poorly and was close to convulsions he was that hot. She is always telling me how she drops the kids off on a morning and mother is still drunk having not been to bed, it's fking disgusting. But obviously sister feels the free childcare is more important, no matter how poor the care.
She never used to be like this, she looked after my DS loads while i worked when he was tiny. My DS is her favourite out of all and she doesn't bother trying to hide that fact
I know i've not turned out to be a professional anything but i'm SO amazed i didn't turn out to be a complete scutter chav with a mother like that.0 -

CSH The postman brought me something very lovely from Kieren's faries this morning. Would you thank them for me - but honestly, there was no need. :kisses3:3, I would do your garden if you would look after Erin, I love gardening but can't seem to get any done with Erin around, plus it's too hot.
I've done the front now, but you're welcome to tackle the back [STRIKE]jungle[/STRIKE] garden. I'd much rather look after Erin.
The front is looking much better now, i'm proud of myself. I wish i'd done before pics. It was just frazzled grass, edged with huge hedge.
Now it's;
Look at my chilli plant to the left, it's got huge ready to eat chillis on it.
The left hand side of the path i'm not sure what to do with. It's only a small square of grass where the wheelie bins hide and it's very shaded by the fence.
Oh dear, i've gone all Charlie Dimmock!
I think maybe I should go and jump in the shower before OH gets home and sees my muddy hands and knees. We'll have half an hour alone before the children get home from school/Nans - what shall we do!
:o (Can you tell that it's very rare for us to be alone!) :beer:0 -
Got my lucky mascot ready! First time hes managed to wear this coz he weed on it last time during a nappy change lol
