Baby proofing - we have two stairgates and thats it. Our lounge is quite big and leads to the kitchen and the stairs. One gate stops him getting in the kitchen and one stops him getting up the stairs! He only goes upstairs to sleep or have a bath, and if he is out of bed he is only ever in our room with the door closed. I cant see that changing so thats fine for us! I keep him out the kitchen cos thats where the cat food and the cleaning stuff cupboard is, and their litter tray is up in the bathroom along with a bit more cleaning stuff, so he has no access to anything dodgy :)

    May I ask a non-child related wedding question? :p
For those of you that have got married or been guests at weddings, what happens when the reception venue isnt where the ceremony venue is? I have been looking at getting married in a hotel and holding the reception there as its all in one place and easy for guests, am I over thinking it all by thinking that might be a problem for people? What is common courtesy, are we meant to sort cars for everyone?
I have found a venue I like for the reception but they dont have a civil ceremony license so we would need to get married in the registry office.

We put on a minibus between our ceremony and reception venue which did a couple of trips for those who weren't driving. I think it is fine not to put on any transport though as people are driving are always happy to give lifts to those who aren't.

Morning all... In a funny mood this morning... Waiting for a friend to txt back about something...

Buggy fit this morning... It's the first one in this area... Should be interesting anyway... What do people wear to these things? I have some jogging bottoms but they tend to ride a bit high so I don't generally wear them for public viewing... Think I'd get away with jeans?

When I've seen Buggyfit in the park people always seem to be in gymwear, so I would say jogging bottoms, a t-shirt and trainers would be fine.

We don't seem to be able to get over out night waking here. It's always somewhere between 12-4 so quite random, and he always has a long feed then goes back to sleep. BF-wise H still has a 7am (before we get up), 10, 3, 7pm (bedtime) then one in the night. He also has three meals, of course. The 10am and 3pm tend to just be snacks though and he only feeds for a few minutes at these.

Bruno- FWIW I think Fitz's question is a good one. Is OH's primary motivation for still feeding E that it is an embedded part of his routine, or is it the bonding question, or that she is a firm believer in the health benefits or something else? I think answering this will help you develop a way forward. If it's the routine then maybe you giving him a cup of milk and a snack instead may help. If it's bonding then maybe OH can replace it with a story and cup of milk or similar and if she wants him to continue to receive the benefits then maybe express. It's a tough one, but I know when I was pregnant I couldn't have coped with feeding as well. It must be very energy draining too- I do still think BFing can be a bit draining and when I was pregnant I simply wouldn't have had any spare energy.

And Germany trounced the Aussies last night :j although I would cheerfully ram vuvuselas down the windpipes of anyone inconsiderate enough to blow one. They sound like the matches are being cheered on by thousands of angry wasps.

I was thinking of you while watching the match last night - good thing you're in Hungary! Poor Aussies (AF, where are you? :)) Those horns drive me crazy while watching the games...fine if you're there in person, but must they really have the sound coming through on TV?!?!

Aless - poor you with your night time wakenings. I think that the only way to do it is if you and DH agree your plan of action first. I had Holly in the spare room again last night too as she woke up around 2am and I hadn't even fallen asleep by then! She just wants to cuddle in and will go back to sleep fine though so it is easier as well as being nice! But I am going to tackle it soon.

Have you thought about putting Finn to bed a bit later? What time do you put him down? I am sure you have been putting him to bed pretty early since he was quite young. Maybe letting him stay up a bit later would be better and then you can work backwards again knocking half an hour off every few days? When Holly went to bed at around 10pm, she always slept through til morning!! I miss those days lol. x

Sami - the creche structure is
    8.15am ish - breakfast
    9am - nap
10.30am snack (only a quarter of toast of half a banana)
    11.30am lunch
    12.30pm - nap
    2pm - bottles
    3.30pm - tea
    Pick him up at 5.15pm

Jack is the only one who won't have his bottle! But I found out today they have some of the 10m jars so if he only has half his lunch or tea they are going to try him with a jar as well. I'd rather they wasted the food trying than him go hungry! :o
They are going to try him with a bottle as well cos apparently they gave him one Friday and he was sipping at it (they have the small bottles like they have for the newborns on labour ward).

He had half a banana before we left this morning as well and the breakfast when he got there. But he did bawl his eyes out this morning :(

Hugs for those up at early hours - we were up at 11pm and 4am!

I tackled it by putting a pillow either side of J in his cot so that he thought he was lying against me. I've now managed to move them both but he still has one under his head - will not go off to sleep without it. He sleeps on his side with one arm under the pillow :A

Oh and I feed him in his cot @ 11pm so he stayed there til 4am! :j

    Morning

((((hugs)))) to those up lots in the night. Only read back a couple of pages so sorry if I've missed much.

We had our wedding and reception in different places and didn't put on any transport and it was fine. People know once they get their invitations that they have to sort something out so can plan in advance.

My baby has been having quite a lot of green poos :( Googled and seems a common reason is him taking too much foremilk and not enough hind milk. He only comes off the boob himself, I let him go til finished, not really sure what to do about it. I did try for the last day and a half to keep offering the same side before swapping but still green poops (apart from the massive yellow one this morning after his formula before bed as I was out). Anyone had this problem or have any advice? (ETA I obviously mean has anyone's baby had this problem lol )

Haven't been on since Friday so just caught up by seraching my name.
I think Susan has Beenie's number but she's not around today. I'm sure she's ok :) Maybe she's too busy pushing Amber around in all her prams!!
I was thinking of texting her - my phone is flat at the moment but will text her later on today.

Susan, you wouldn't happen to know what the threshold is, would you?

How's Alice? Are you getting any more sleep?
I don't know what the thresholds are except for the first reduction threshold as that is the only one which applies to me.

Thanks for asking - Alice is pretty much the same. We were awake four or five times last night. (I was too tired to pay enough attention to counting.)
I wouldn't want to go to a wedding that specified no children - what kind of people don't want children at their wedding? I am horrified!! I wouldn't want to be friends with those kinds of people.
My parents didn't have any children at their wedding. From what my mum has said it sounds like they thought that children would be likely to cause dispruption to the service and/or end up going out and/or not really appreciate/enjoy it. I don't think anyone invited to the reception had children anyway though as they just had a tiny one with about twelve people.

I wouldn't have considered excluding children and we specifically included all children on our invitations. Only one couple chose not to bring their child which implies most people prefer to bring their children with them.

Maybe those who don't want children there have been at wedding where there have been really badly behaved children?

Yes, I had this problem with Caitlyn... Carry on as you are offer the same side again if he only had a short feed previously, don't swap sides during a feed unless you feel that he needs it (comes off and is still fretfull) let him stay on until he's finished... And Dr Jack Newman says if the colour of the nappies offends you... Wear sunglasses when you change them ;)

Sometimes it can just be an immature gut or a slightly upset tummy....

I just found something out and I'm a bit :eek::eek:

    Anyway, off to buggy fit...
