Anyone got Married in Las Vegas? (or Abroad)

Hi
we got married just before christmas 2 years ago.
It was the easiest thing ever. Decided to get married on the monday, spoke to a kind of trip agent who did everything booked chapel, limo and rev. Paid with credit card. Went shopping on tues for rings, and clothes. Picked us up on wed at our hotel (luxor) married about 10 in morning then helicopter champagne breakfast in grand canyon. Cost about £600 for wedding, total for trip was £2000 all food, hotel, and casino chips. Highly recommended. You do not need to register in Britain.
good luck and I hope you enjoy vegas it is a great place very crazy but great fun.0 -

The choice of hotels is enormous. We stayed in the Monte Carlo, which is one of the medium size hotels - some of them are a 3 day camel ride to walk from one end to the other!!!
Try and avoid times when their big conventions are held and you will get the best deals on hotels. We got a flight and hotel package on www.lastminute.co.uk and I would advise looking at the reviews on www.tripadvisor.com which are put on by members of the public ie true life experiences.0 -
Also what about the weather, which is the best time to go do you think? May-Sept is what we are thinking and how do i get details on conventions?

But by all accounts it was a bit of a rigmarole, especially getting the marriage registered here.
We had to produce our passports, fill out a form and read a booklet in florida, we were then asked if we had a ceremony booked (we had for the following day) if not we could have married there. I had someone come and do my make-up, who was only booked a few days before. She told me she could do last minute bookings for tourists as they tended to marry on weekdays when she wasn't as busy whereas Americans were more likely to marry on saturdays. I had silk flowers which I was glad about as I think fresh flowers may have wilted in the heat-I married outside.0 -
We got married at the Monte Carlo Hotel in Las Vegas and had a wonderful service. We actually won our wedding with the news of the world newspaper and it was fantastic. It was easy to register our intent to marry the office did not even want to see our passports or Hubby to be divorce papers. We just filled out a form in pencil ( all forms were done in pencil) giving our name address etc. After the wedding we went for a meal in Planet Hollywood on the strip . Las Vegas is a great place to marry. We went in November and the weather was warm and sunny.Competitions wins 2010

I got married in Washington DC, all perfectly legal, working in the Embassy at the time, my husband just took our wedding certificate down to the visa/passport dept and had my name changed. Wanted to lamp the b***h who did it though, she got the hump because she wanted to charge for it and we didn't have to pay because of my husbands job. So when my husband went to collect the passport he asked her for the wedding certificate. It was on parchment paper handed over in pristine condition. She said its inside the passport and she had folded up into a tiny square. If I had her in front of me now I would smack her. I was so upset.£2.00 Savers Club = £34.00 So Far
+ however may £2 coins I have saved in my Terramundi since 2000.

Hello all. What a useful thread (i've been meaning to start one along the same lines - sorry for butting in Mr Kennedy, let me know if you think i should shove off and stop interrupting your thread!).
I'm hoping my wedding will be a cheap and cheerful Vegas do. We will not have any guests either and was wondering what to do about getting a witness for the ceremony.
Would it be totally crass to ask someone at the chapel (no idea which chapel) to officially witness it? Is this something that is done by anyone else?
Do you have to book chapels well in advance? I want somewhere that isn't too over the top (if that's possible in vegas) so it'd be great to have a wander round the chapels and just pick the one we want on the day.
Kazd: My OH is a civil servent and we'll need to show his company that we're married as we'll be moving abroad with his job. In your experience (your hubby may have a similar background) will there be any problems with the fact we'd marry in Vegas and won't be registered over here? If you can help i'd appreciate it. If you know nothing about it then don't worry either!
PS Congrats to Mr and Mrs Kennedy (to be)!0 -
We had 2 court staff as witnesses plus my 2 children ( they were under 16 so we had to have the adults legally) and we have never had a problem showing we are married with our super ornate marriage certificate signed by the judge who performed the ceremony. They posted the certificate on to us a few weeks after the wedding.0

I've shown my marriage certificate that was issued in Florida to various 'oficialdoms' including solicitors, banks and produced it for a CRB check without problems.0

I got married here http://www.aspecialmemory.com/ASMchapel%20Packages.htm and it was brilliant. I just phoned to make the booking and then about a fortnight before the wedding I ordered my flowers. The service was lovely and the setting gorgeous.
We stayed at the Bellagio which was superb. I booked flights and hotel online through expedia - except for our helicopter trip to the grand canyon which we booked when we got there. The conceirge at the hotel will do anything ours booked us restaurants, theatre visits and beauty salon.
Las Vegas is an amazing place I loved it and have no regrets. The place has to be seen to be believed! First holiday ever that I didn't want to go home. We stayed a full week so with flights was 6 days and although I know some people probably thinks that's too long it was fine. Day to prepare, day of wedding, trip to grand canyon, shopping trip, hotel exploration day and a day swimming and lounging.
We didn't even gamble that much. But if you do you can get free drinks - hubby spent several hours putting quarters into machines and won and lost the same $10 all the time getting free drinks!
May to October includes the hottest time (remember Vegas is in the middle of as desert) so I would look at either May or September/October. Everywhere inside is air conditioned but you will want to be able to wander without turning into toast!0
