is it possible to get the deposit back from our wedding venue...

basically i am fed up with the lack of communication and things being changed with regards to my wedding due to be new years eve 2010.
i paid a deposit of £1000 in january. as yet we have not received a receipt, we have not signed a contract or terms and conditions. we were told that the deposit is non refundable or transferable.
on the hotels website it clearly states that once a deposit has been received along with the two other signed documents - the wedding is guaranteed. due to the lack of communication, the chopping and changing of the details. we have asked to see the wedding co-ordinator, chasing her and have been told we have to wait another 3 weeks, which means it will only be 7 and half months to the wedding... we have written to her stating how we feel and have not really had a satisfactory response, we received a contract - on scrap paper with other peoples details on the back, she has put the minimum spend up £1000... so now we basically want to cancel the wedding at that hotel and get our deposit back....

do you think this will happen???

Come on then, name the exact hotel if it's true.

sorry im not being funny, but would i seriously have written that if it wasnt true?? this is my wedding i am worried about and if i can get the deposit back from the hotel i can then move on and try and find somewhere else... if i cant then i am going to either have to cancel my big day (already have my dress:() or i will have to leave it to chance as to how the day will turn out....

the hotel is in worcestershire, part of a nationwide chain...

do you think it would be possible to get the deposit back???

Why is the name of the hotel relevant? It's advice on the situation that she's after!

I think you have cause for complaint - is there a hotel manager, or as it's a national chain a customer service line you can call to get the ball rolling? Having to wait another few weeks for the co-ordinator isn't really on - I'd be really surprised if she was the only person in the building that could help you!

My thoughts exactly!!!! :rotfl:... but its not!!!!

OP - I wouldnt name it either at this stage!! It feels quite bizarre to give someone advice when I was in this situation 6 months ago. :o

I would stick to one thread (although I did exactly the same as you in the beginning and made a couple of threads but it just gets confusing believe me!) ... I replied on the other thread though.

thanks fleagle21, i am basically after the info so that i can march in there and say this is how i feel, this is what i would now like and these are the reasons why... i dont want to have to cancel the wedding but i just have no confidence in them to hold whats meant to be the biggest day of our lives, on the biggest day of the year and for it to be amazing and run smoothly...

i have to say i was almost amused when we had an email in response to our last phone message when she said she wasnt available for another 3 weeks..... lol
