Any bread I have leftover, and that includes the crusts that 2 of my 3 demand I cut off their sarnies, get frozen. When I have an old bread bag full I put them in the oven on the rack on a low heat until they are all dried out then blitz them in the food processor. Voila - breadcrumbs. I just pop them into another bag and freeze them. I use them for topping on anything with a cheese sauce.WW Start Weight 18/04/12 = 19st 11lbsWeight today = 17st 6.5lbsLoss to date 32.5lbs!!!0

Bread pud!
butter it, layer it in a greased dish with sultanas and sugar sprinkled between layers then beat an egg, mix with milk, add nutmeg, cinnamon or whatever, completely cover the bread with the milk mix and let it soak in. Then bake in the oven. Yumworking on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0 -
Cut into cubes and freeze, then next time you have soup fry for croutons.
Make into breadcrumbs and store in the freezer for adding to meatloaves, stuffings, coating meat or fish, toppings for baked dishes, adding to muffins, making breadcrumb cookies.
Use for bread pud, duke pudding and many other puds esp wartime recipes.HTH0 -
Newlywed describe Bread and Butter Pudding try making a Bread Pudding...
Break the bread up , crusts and all and soak in water for an hour or so... squeeze in a clean teatowel till most of the water is out, the break it up in a bowl with a fork, add some mixed dried fruit , an ounce of butter, a teaspoon of Bicarbonate of Soda in a little milk , couple of teaspoons of mixed spice or more to your taste (we like loads) and I always add a spoonful of marmalade, mix it all together and put in a greased ovenproof dish, bung in the oven for an hour or so on 165*sprinkle with sugar and then eat hot with custard or cold in squares... its delicious and the measurements do not have to be perfectly accurate and you can just adjust it to how you like it..... if you like it wet and stodgy just bung in an egg..... :T#6 of the SKI-ers Club :j

And the best thing about bread pudding is that you can use a mixture of different types of bread and sliced and unsliced and to be honest if you are like me when I found some mould on slices of my granary bread I just chopped off the mouldy bits and added the rest to the bread pudding mix.True wealth lies in contentment - not cash. Make breadcrumbs which can be frozen and then mixed with spices to be used for homemade chicken nuggets, fishfingers etc. that don't contain any nasties.
Also good for topping bakes, stuffed veg, macaroni cheese etc.
Or you could go for Delia's chocolate bread & butter pudding.0
