I nominate the Royal National Lifeboat Institute (RNLI)
They do a stirling job at rescuing those in danger at sea. The lifeboatmen and women are all volunteers and are not paid for this dangerous work.

I too would like to nominate this charity as we have a high incidence of breast cancer in our family, and more recently my mother and myself. Had it not been for this wonderful charity and the wonderful support of everyone involved, I might not have beaten it. I think its a great nominee.0 -

The Woodland Trust
https://www.woodland-trust.org.uk
Save the historic Woodland of Britain. Woodland is being lost at a tremendous rate. The woodland trust manages woodland by removing foreign trees and replacing them with natural species. It also has a educational side and plants new woodland.:T0 -
Hi, I would like to nominate Computers for Charities https://www.computers4charities.co.uk.
CfC is about people, not just recycling computers. It is about empowering and improving opportunities for disadvantaged people here and in third world countries. At present we are desperately trying to get funding to support the development of a particular kind of computer training for inmates of HM Prisons. We need to develop the course further and get accreditation for it to enable it to be rolled out consistently across the country. It will help thousands of prisoners on release to have a basic qualification that will help them integrate back into society, give them a greater chance of a job and staying clean .
So many people tell us what a great idea this is; prisons are desperate for us to get it going, but funding is crucial. That is why we are asking for your help.
A great big thank you for all the great work you do!! :-)

I would like to nominate the Anaphylaxis Campaign. I have copied this next bit from their web site - https://www.anaphylaxis.org.uk.
The Campaign is a registered charity (No. 1085527) with the following aims:
1. To preserve the health and relieve those persons who suffer anaphylactic reactions and associated disorders by advancing research into the cause and care of such conditions and to publish the results of such research.
2. To advance the education and general understanding of the public concerning anaphylaxis and associated disorders. The Campaign has a range of educational products including information sheets, videos and a children's book.
This charity is close to my heart as my son is allergic to many fruits and nuts and the Anaphylaxis Campaign has been extremely helpful.
I hope that others feel that they can support this very worthwhile charity.0 -
I work for a charity called Lancaster & District Homeless Action Service Ltd, it is a day centre for homeless people which provides food, showers and laundry facilities.
We are in dire need of funds at present in order to survive until Christmas which is a time when we raise funds to run a Christmas shelter for those who are homeless and in housing need. This will be our 20th year. The Charity was set up in 1987 became registered in 1992 and a limited company by guarentee in 1999. We made 4 staff redunant in September 2005 and have been in financial difficulty ever since. We have about 15 to 20 homeless who access the centre daily and the same number who are in housing difficulty and really need our service. Our website is https://www.ldhas.org.uk and very basic as we do not have anyone experience to administer it. The charity no is 1093016.0 -
I'd like to nominate Medecins sans frontieres, the independent humanitarian relief organisation that gets medical help to emergencies all over the world. their website is https://www.msf.org
Thanks, Martin for setting this site up and having the forethought to find ways of generating money to reach people who need it more than most of us do!0 -

I want to nominate The Alzheimer's Society as one of the five to share in the MSE charity donation.
They do invaluable work for those suffering from this most terrible of illnesses.
Contrary to the public's perception of this and other forms of dementia, this illness affects not only the elderly in the twilight of their lives but much younger people too (a small number are even in their 20s and as age increases the numbers get larger). Sufferers under 60 are quite common. This at a time when they should just be beginning to enjoy their "golden years".
Also the perverse new NICE guidelines are going to REDUCE the medication available to them so the Society's need is soon going to be greater as these sufferers decline faster because of the medication that is to be denied them in both the early and late stages of the condition.
This terrible illness destroys the lives of sufferers, their carers and their families and the Alzheimer's Society is going to need extra funding to give them the help they need.
Please help by making tghe Alzheimer's Society one of the chosen five.0
