belfastgirl - are you really going to chuck it all in the bin???
It's easy. Honestly!
Read this thread again to remind you why you are doing it, gather up the offending chocolate, dump it straight into the outside bin and then empty something sloppy on top of it - in my case tea leaves! You can't change your mind then and rescue it in a weak moment.
If you take it into work then you might be sabotaging someone else who is trying to give it up!0 -

We could ressurect the NI weight loss thread, or why don't you come and join us on the half-stone thread (as the NI one is like tumbleweed central lol).
I'm not sure what to do with my chocolate, maybe I will give it to the peeps in the office or something. I just can't throw it away, I am pathetic!
So... do we want a list of members in the first post?
I am so on for this challenge. The fact that I've wasted almost £12 in the last ten days on crap that's going to make me fat is nothing short of sickening. It stops here.
I think I will give the slimfast bars to my friend cos I know she likes them but will bin the admittedly few squares of green and blacks, almost as a symbolic gesture
I have seen the half stone thread but I hate alliteration - random I know- maybe you're right though and I should join it.

I have a simple approach. I totally walk past the crisps/biscuits/sweets aisle in the supermarket. And I buy my kids what they want when they want it. Which means that we don't eat any of these kind of snacks at home - simply because they're not there.
And, if you physically have to go and buy when you're out, somehow, you end up talking yourself out of 80% of the purchases, because you think twice about buying it, you think about when you're going to be home and can get something, you think how close to meal times you are, etc etc etc.
Being doing this now for a couple of years and it works well for me. Because, simply put, if it's here i'll eat it, and eat it all, but i will very rarely go out specifically to buy it.
That is true, if I'm sitting at home and want chocolate I probably won't go to the shop for it, but I buy it to have it 'ready' for when I want some! Right, definitely from now on, no more buying chocolate. No more sweets aisle! It's easy. Honestly!

It is still a bit eek though! TBH, most of the choc eaters in my workplace are men and they would never go on a diet. I'm sure they'll appreciate my biscuits. What to do with the rest of the Nutella though? One of my friends might take it off my hands, hmm.belfastgirl23 wrote: »I think I will give the slimfast bars to my friend cos I know she likes them but will bin the admittedly few squares of green and blacks, almost as a symbolic gesture

tara, just out of curiosity how do you consume the nutella?
(You're amongst friends here!!)
Also, does your OH have a sweet tooth and will you need coping strategies for resisting his goodies?0 -
Have you found it really hard to give up chocolate and what (if any) copies strategies do you use?
Yes, very hard and I have loads in the house because of dd, I just look in the mirror at my jelly belly and think I don't want that to be there, that usually works for me or if its a really bad day, I go and brush my teeth, this stops cravings for some strange reason and if its a really really bad hormonal day I have a cigarette (this is not a suggestion:o) oh well , you did ask;)Its great that you like unsweetened herbal tea, lots of lovely flavours that could ease you along the way.Thank you for this site MartinThe time for change has comeGood luck for the future0 -
Nutella is very very good with breadsticks. But I really think we should shut that discussion down FAST!!0

Er, well, there may be a spoon involved!!! It depends really, sometimes I have it with bread, breadsticks, oatcakes, but usually just with a spoon tbh. Disgusting I know...
OH does eat sweet things but not as much as I do, so I think that will be fine tbh. He doesn't even realise how much junk I eat, oh the shame...
p.s. I am ignoring belfastgirl's last post!!!! :rotfl:Yes, very hard and I have loads in the house because of dd, I just look in the mirror at my jelly belly and think I don't want that to be there, that usually works for me or if its a really bad day, I go and brush my teeth, this stops cravings for some strange reason and if its a really really bad hormonal day I have a cigarette (this is not a suggestion:o) oh well , you did ask;)Its great that you like unsweetened herbal tea, lots of lovely flavours that could ease you along the way.
Well that's one thing that would motivate me, no questionI should brush my teeth more often too, good suggestion. Taking up smoking might be a bit much though, I agree!!

Yay found my perfect thread!
I posted this awhile back:
Does anyone else suffer from this?
It's really getting out of control now. I have always loved the high, and taste and happiness it gives me, but its making my weight spiral out of control.
I really want to beat it, but I start a new day and then fail miserable. I don't buy it in the house, but it doesn't stop me from having it. Loads in the house (something I can't stop, tried, other family want it and wont hide it)
The feeling of wanting a lot is overwhelming. I become upset, miserable and go mad if I am deprived from it. Mad! Apparently its as addictive as cocaine!
Help! Does anyone have any tips?
Is there a pill out there to help? lol
so I have problems too with it0 -
What a great thread! I am a total chocaholic, and it seems to change my personality - whereas I would normally happily share things with my family, if it's a huge bar of choc I either eat it really quickly so that I don't have to give any away or sneak into another room where no-one else knows about it. If anyone else in my family did that with anything, I would be furious (and concerned about their mental health!), but with chocolate I see it as my god-given right to have it all to myself.
I agree with others - the only answer is not to have it in the house. I go throught the lot in a couple of hours, no matter how many are in the multipack!0 -
