looking to plant some brussels and broccoli plug plants this week but concerned about the drop in temperatures will it be safe to do or should i hang on for a bit

Assuming you have hardened them off, then as you are in south , safe as houses

Brussels love frost, broccoli, it depends what sort you have, purple sprouting is no problem, headed "calabrese" is a bit more tender so waiting a week or so would be best

i have frost forecast for monday night, you all might want to check your local weather. I'm sick of this winter.

Completely agree! I have been trapped indoors all weekend due to rain/cold. Its May for heavens sake. Have some courgettes which need planting as becoming triffid like. So desperate for some sun:(

You could use those tiered pots and grow an assortment in them. If you are looking for more space perhaps a cheap shelfing system would be the answer (I'm going to get one to put in my conservatory to make more use of the space).
