    Hi fellow southernersl
Wow impressed by the variety you are all growing. This is my first year growing veggies so taking it slow. Would like a plum tree to go in the garden as already have an apple tree (inherited and approx 100yrs old), and MIL has a pear tree.

Just planted out further carrot seeds today (told by friend my soil was probably too good that they like more grainy?! stuff). Fingers crossed.

Is it too early to move herb seedlings (coriander, thyme and mint) out yet? What do you think?
What is anyone else moving out?

If the seedlings are still small it might be worth keeping them in for a little bit longer, more for protection from hungry slugs as well as the cold. But you could always have some make shift cover to hand if you put them out and it looks like it's going to be a cold night. Maybe harden them off first.

If you are a newbie at veg, have you thought about protecting your carrots from carrot fly by planting something oniony nearby. Spring onions, chives, onions and garlic all work well at hiding the delicious aroma from naughty insects!! :D

Thanks for that Mossy will keep them all indoors a bit longer then (and go and close the plastic greenhouse door). Carrots are right next to onions (more by fluke than design tho) so if they come up this time that should be good!

Evening primrose grows like weed in Hampshire, maybe try really fresh seed, perhaps just collect from wild plants you see and sow at once?

I know mine just keep on coming up

Oh that's sounds pretty productive to me kazire!! :)

I planted two courgettes out today (ambassador green and yellow taxi which unsurprisingly is yellow!!, was going to use goldrush but couldn't find it anywhere).

Have a tomato plant on the kitchen windowsill, planted some Ann sugar snap peas in toilet roll tubes and they are now on the windowsill, it said you could plant them straight out but I want to give them a quick head start and a little protection by starting the first lot off inside.

My daughter sowed some children's creepy crawly flower seeds today, for attracting all those lovely helpful bugs.

My first salad leave shoots have appeared which is exciting, I only sowed them the other day...another benefit of being down south I guess!! :)

Today I planted out my vale emerald seed potatoes, and sowed some beetroot and chantenay and nantes carrots.

I am hoping my salad leaves will start to germinate soon. My sweet peas which I sowed straight outdoors have all sprung and are starting to look pretty healthy :)

I have also planted some dahlias into a pot as I read in a magazine that it was a good time, then I saw on tv that dahlias shouldn't be planted until end May, should I move the pot into my shed for some protection or just leave it and hope for the best?

I planted some late garlic (well and truly late, let's see what we get!), sorted a bit of the front garden (tempted to buy some plants), rescued some tomatoes I left with the greenhouse door shut for a day, potted some of the said tomatoes on in vain hope. Planted parsnips, sowed some sweetcorn, some beans and looking at a long list of things to sow.

I'm running late but I figure the weather is as well. Everything will catch up soon!!
