I'm lucky i don't have to pay for my dinner at work. I usually get a chicken salad wrap and some mini cheddars and a bottle of water. I take in healthy eating flapjack type things or an apple for morning break.

Ginster's large Cornish Pasties (BOGOF - Tesco), then if still hungry a nice Jam Doughnut!
Only joking - I promise I usually make up a couple of Cheese/Ham Sandwiches and if it's cold I will make CupaSoup.

I am really lucky with the job I have just now. We get a good two course lunch free plus free snacks/ tea / coffee etc are always available. Saves me so much because I then don't need a cooked meal at night.
  • I normally take a sandwich and a piece of fruit for lunch. If I've done baking I'll take a home-made scone or muffin for morning break. When I'm being super healthy I make up a small container with mixed nuts, pumpkin and sunflower seeds and sultanas - tasty and filling.

Can't seem to stop eating sports mixtures at the mo - bought a big box and am taking a small container each day.

Pretty much the same as everyone else with sarnies or pasta salads and I also get the 4pm "nibbles" so either take cashew nuts (un-salted and bought in the large packs) mixed with raisins in a small container, or scones with jam in - 37p for Value 10 pack (Tescos or Sainsburys) and I usually freeze half of them for the next week.

I still love the odd chocolate treat, so pick up a pack of Aero's or similar when they're on offer/BOGOF and keep a couple in my desk drawer.

I've not tried the Sainsburys value ones before, are they OK.

Also, someone a few posts up said they took the snack box raisins, they are handy but they are also overpriced, you'd be much better getting a bag of regular raisins and just taking a portion out at a time. HTH

That's a great way to save Prudent... only wish all companies were a bit more generous! I work for the Civil Service and have never known any employer as stingy as them! All they provide is hot water, chilled water, a microwave and a fridge. You have to provide your own cup, tea/coffee and milk! So I don't bother with hot drinks at work, I just take in an empty water bottle and refill it from their water cooler.

At breaktimes I usually have a piece of fruit (this week I've had a banana for morning break and apple in the afternoon), lunch is usually a sandwich (either wholemeal or pitta bread), cheese/ham/turkey etc with salad and sometimes a bag of lower fat crisps such as Snackajacks or Walkers Lites. Also a cereal bar and either a small bag of mixed nuts or dried fruit (from Holland & Barrett - I buy large packs and portion them into smaller bags), but I usually take at least one or two of these home. I just take the extra food, in case the fruit is bad!

For a change from sandwiches I take quiche and salad or leftover rice or pasta bake.
  • Because I am usually still half-asleep when I prepare my lunch in the mornings before work I have memorised what I need. I have in-grained this over the years so no matter how tired or un-awake I am I still remember it...

sandwiches, crisps, apple, banana, lunch-biscuit, yoghurt, fruit pie, drink.

Lunch biscuit being kitkat, penguin etc.
