I take sandwiches and fruit. I tend to save the banana for mid-afternoon as that helps with the post-lunch energy drop. I also find that going for a walk wakes me up and keeping my purse at work stops me from spending on chocolate and other extras!

Try having oat-based cereal for brekkie (porridge / Oatibix / crunchy oat cereal), then wholemeal or granary bread at lunch, as it's all low-GI & the energy is released slowly throughout the day.

Then you should fine you don't have an energy dip at 4pm - and if you do, take some raisins with you too!

I agree with this - as I do lots of sport I take a couple of bananas to work with me as well for around 4pm. I usually take leftovers from the previous evening for lunch - it saves making sandwiches etc. I also have a breadmaker so can set the timer so that it is ready for me to take a slice or two to work!

  • I take at least 3 bits of fruit, either tabbouleh or rolls, a yoghurt and sometimes some oatcakes just as something savoury to munch on in the afternoon. But today I had 3 bits of fruit, 3 bags of crisps, 2 rolls, a yoghurt a chocolate muffin and a cake!!! :o

I try to stick to three large white rolls from Morrisons, with various fillings. I never get up early enough for breakfast, so eat one pretty early in the day. The other two I have at lunchtime, and that usually does me. I try not to buy crisps or chocolate, but will if I'm hungry. There is a fair amount of me to fill.

This week I have had some cake to take in too. :j
If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.
  • I've just started taking a packed lunch to work (sarnies, crisps, fruit and yoghurt etc) and saving me almost a fiver a day !!!

also we have a free vending machine which does soup which I use when I'm still not full :)
  • I usually have a bannana or apple with my 10.30 cup of tea.

1 wholemeal bread role (filled with hummus or salad or cottage cheese) and a muller light yoghurt for lunch.

And then i usually take another 2 portions of fruit for the afternoon. And definatly another bannana for 4pmish if im going stright to the gym.

I have one of those "clip lock" tupperware containers with three small containers which fit just inside it. I normally either have last night's left overs in the one big pot, or I'll fill each smaller pot with something like sausages, rice and salad or cous cous, stir fry veg and chicken. I also take in an apple and I have a big bag of sultanas which I nibble on if I get hungry. The tupperware container was quite expensive (about £4 each from Waitrose), but the OH insisted we get them and they were a fab purchase! You can microwave food in them and they never leak and the little pots are perfect if you don't want all your food to mix :)
  • I hate work lunch at the moment, I'm trying to be healthy so I'm not taking much, plus I want to save money. A usual day is

Breakie - Banana, Mini Wheatabix (I take a spoon, and use work's milk and cardboard cup).

    Mid morning - 1 ricecake

Lunch - Ministrone Slim A Soup, and sometimes a turkey sandwhich on granary

    Mid afternoon - 1 ricecake.

Yup, sounds crappy boring and cheap... well it is... and I like it!

Also we get free tea/coffee/cuppacino/water/hot choc anyway. So I usually have 2 or 3 tea's and a decaf coffee... and spend the whole of the day running between the toilets and me desk!!

When I remember to make lunch for work or rather have the stuff in....

Sometimes I'll take a pasta dish.....tuna or chicken with a bit of added veg/mayo...and an ickle choccy bar.....maybe a piece of fruit or 3, when trying to be healthy (banana/apple/grapes usually)

Sometimes ham salad cheese sarnies...trying to eat healthier bread so try to go for wholemeal....have been buying sainsbury's ...what's it called...it's wholemeal bread with linseed and soya/or cranberries or something....I know it's quite dear...but I find it outlasts the other bread....that goes quite dry and you don't really wan to eat it...but my stuff...all still nice and soft...and fresh tasting:D

I take brekky bars in when I've got them on BOGOF or they a bit cheaper than normal....

The other week I went a bit overboard on the fruit buying front....we all remember how hot it was a few weeks ago don't we.....well I was like a crazed woman......we've got to eat this before it goes off/bad!!! Hurry up....(I say we as in the Royal we....as OH hardly eats any fruit....tell a lie....he does eat apples but thats it....and I think I bought too many of them!)

Well, after overdoing the fruit eating....which I have to say I don't do that often.....my body paid me back big time! I fealt soooo poo (no pun intended there!)...and had the worst IBS I've had in years.....still it taught me a lesson.......little and often:o

I'll generally take a yoghurt or banana for 'breakfast' cos I don't eat before I leave. Have these at 10ish when my chatbuddy arrives at work ;)

For lunch (1230ish) I usually take a boxed salad (HM, not bought) and sometimes a pitta bread. Then HM fruit salad - very few variations there. 1 apple, 1 nectarine, some melon, some grapes, 1 satsuma, some pineapple and some frozen raspberries. That always lasts me til I leave at 5, very rarely get hungry for anything else
