Lets not turn this into an iPhone bashing thread, the iPhone is awesome, end of.

In your opinion. In other people's opinion it's far from awesome.
It's my problem, it's my problem
If I feel the need to hide
And it's my problem if I have no friends
And feel I want to die

Multitasking :rotfl:More like a hack of their own OS. I would place a Blackberry as more of a smartphone, the iPhone is simply an ipod touch with a phone dialer on it.

So, you're saying it wont be able to multitask?

I'm guessing you're not much of an iPhone fan? Or can't afford one more like!

The reason that it won't be true multi tasking is because they missed the boat and Palm beat them to it.

What do you mean can't afford one? Its not a reserve of the rich, anyone get one if they want it.

I just don't see how anyone can really bash it. When it came out it desimated every other phone on the market, and even now, its still classed as the phone to beat, even if it is losing its grip on the crown. Hence why Apple will bring out a new one out and leave all others in its wake once again.

I'm not saying the iPhone is the be all and end all, but for me and my needs, nothing else even comes close!

It's not that great, thats why. It is an iPod touch with a phone dialer, it can't send files via bluetooth, Apple restrict and have a hold over the app development, they release a phone then release for example one with a video capture feature and you can only get it if you buy a new phone when they could of done it by an OS update. they hold the networks over pricing, they try to sue other phone makers so to capture the market Take away the apps and it's nothing . If it was that great everyone would have one. I expect the next one to cost a hell of a lot of money up front and you may say goodbye to 18 month terms with it and only get 24 month terms. An o2 guy high up reckons £300 at least up front and £45 per month then put on your insurance and all the other extras you will be chucked and that is a price i am not willing to pay for a phone, no matter what it can do!

No one has given me a reason to be a fan, just because everyone ( or so you feel) is talking about it, the reality is they are not, ;)
If you check my posts you will already note I have a smartphone which suits my needs more than an iphone ever could, it's not about affording it, they are under £500 quid, so not sure why you think they are as desirable as you feel :j

You're getting bloody tiresome turning every iPhone related thread into a "here's why it's not as good as a Palm" rant.

The video capture thing has already been discussed - Palm had the video encoding hardware already in the Pre but rushed out the OS which meant they could update the OS to support it later. The 3G didn't have the processing power to support full video capture. No amount of OS updates could change that. No conspiracy. Third party apps can support video on the 3G but only at a smaller resolution and frame rate.

You still don't get it - you can list all the technical things it can't do compared to other phones, or why Apple are big bad bullies until you're blue in the face but no other phone has matched the number one attribute to make any product a success.....desirability.
