£5 glass of wine

we were at an evening wedding reception last week at a 'country' hotel. Cost of one round consisting of glass of red wine, pint of lager and a lemonade? £11.60 !!!
So for the whole evening this was all we had (I had 1 further glass wine @£5).
Is this standard pricing for these places?

Yup! When me & my mates go to any "country hotel" do's, we tag onto the mate who's staying, and leave a couple of bottles in their room! Then we can be "doing our make-up" or "not queueing for the loos" and toddle up to our own free bar! :D

large handags hold amazing things I usually drive and I hate being ripped off for soft drinks usually buy the first then the rest come out of the bag.Even my rich sister in law takes her own drink to expensive family receptions hides hers in the baby changing bag no one likes being ripped off £5 for a glass of wine is just pure greed

I used to carry a hipflask to every event (even festivals where it'd balance on my hefty bottom in the small of my back to escape security)! No point being ripped off!

Alas, working in Soho, Central London, i'd not be able to afford an after work tipple any other way

I wouldn't put money on that at £1.79 a bottle, but beggars cant be choosers as my old mum used to say :D

It's also because of inflation running out of control in the economy. Not that labour will ever admit to it.
