Thats about the advice about the make up. I know she wouldnt be allowed to wear it everyday, but i used to be allowed at that age to "play" with make up i.e. experiment with it and not leave the house with it on. Its more eyeshadows (i have over 30) and some blush rather than mascara and lipsticks. Its more than i dont want to throw money in the bin when a little girl could have some fun playing and experimenting like i used to.

how about you offer it specifically for 'dressing up', and say you'll understand if her mother doesn't want to accept used makeup (you could split it into stuff that has and hasn't been used if there is any unused). Don't offer any used mascara or eyeliner, as these are a huge cause of eye infections (I have a friend who is an eye surgeon and is VERY disapproving of eye makeup, but says these are the worst). And definitely offer it via the mother - I'm sure she'll appreciate you doing that.

Having said that, I frequently see people buying used make up at car boots  Nail polish I can understand, but the rest ...

I'm showered, dressed, the bath and basin are clean, laundry collected up ready to wash and my nails done (they had peeling polish on :o) although they're in a terrible state. The problem is, if I cover them up with polish I don't think they'll get any better as I think it's the polish & remover drying them out....

Better get the floors done, then go and have a bit of a sort out in the shed so I can order the shelves and get it ready for the electrician on Tuesday (second freezer needs cleaning too... before Sunday and then I can start buying meat at the farmers' market :j and baking again :D)
  • triker and penpen how did you do? I got carried away, and...

    sorted washing
    unloaded wm and reloaded it
    loaded airer
    stripped DD's beds
found the new bedding for DH to put on
    tidied some toys
filled in an ed psych form
filled in some meeting dates on calendar

    not bad.

G n B good man your DH. I had to train mine not to bring me dead garage flowers.
Please do not confuse me with other gratefulsforhelp. x

From your second post I wonder if your friend is feeling guilty about not going/loosing touch and feels sending a gift will ease her feelings - I wouldn't send or expect one.
She would never admit to feeling guilty - that would mean admitting she might have been wrong :rotfl:
Had some snide remarks (you know, the subtle ones you can't challenge) after I had called in on them on my way home from a holiday (they are some distance away). Well sorry I didn't know that she hadn't been to their new house.
Anyway, I have decided not to refer to it again and just make my own decisions/plans.

I thought it was warming up at last, but just put my nose outside and it aint

How come it's so difficult to find basic heavy duty wooden shelving for the shed?

More stuff has been put away. I suppose I should do the floors rather than getting frustrated about the shelving!

greenbee - try Ikea for the shelving? I bought some very solid stuff with metal bits at the back that hold it square. The book hall wall is so wonky that DH has nicked them for the garage.
penelope penguin - sorry, I do have a 10% off code for Crocus if you want it. They used to send me the catalogue but it is a few pages of pretty pictures rather than a useful plant catalogue. I love looking at the website but have never taken the plunge and ordered.

Patchy rain here which is great - need the water or there will be no May flowers. Compost bins 1 and 2 have been emptied into the veg plot ready for beans, peas, pumpkins and courgettes. Re-stacked with nice layers as someone had choked bin 3 with six inches of sawdust . Bin 3 now has a nice batch a few weeks off ready and bin 4 is empty ready to start again so I can clean the chickens out shortly. Is it me or am I obsessive about compost :p. I have to be, we have clay soil and we go through mountains of it.

Need to get the boys uniform out of the WM, and nag someone to empty the DW so I can re-fill it.

    Morning all.:hello:

GnB Happy Birthday, hope you have a lovely day.:bdaycake:

Plan here today is kiddies room and our room. I need to change their curtains as there up at the crack of dawn. I would also like to get the kitchen nice and tidy as well as some baking.

Right our room first and the kiddies can make a start on there's while hubby looks after Rhys.
Sometimes it seems that the going is just too rough.
And things go wrong no matter what I do.
Now and then it seems that life is just too much.
But you've got the love I need to see me through.

I've seen the ones you mean - and they'd probably work, but I wouldn't be able to have them all the way along, as they're 35cm deep and I only have 26 cm between wall and door (my dad insisted on double doors... he was probably right, but it left very little space either side).

Enjoy your compost. Luckily I don't need to generate quite as much as you, although I'm on clay, as my garden is a LOT smaller! However, my parents (on chalk) seem to be as obsessive as you. You may remember that I spent a weekend with my dad recently rebuilding compost bins out of old fence panels and doors... they have 4 as well...

Now... which evening this week do I want to ruin going to Ikea?? :o
