I have just spoke to my mum and they have cash sat asside for their own holday which they are going on 4 weeks after we get back should we need it we can borrow it.
then she asked if they were covered, which she isnt as her holiday was booked through a travel agent but every part of it is booked seperately, so she's going to get onto that tommorrow and doubke check.
And what would happen to their holiday?0 -

I've already explained, if we needed money, we could get/borrow money, but we don't take anything extra with us than our spends.
You don't know how much spends we have, so there is nothing 'seriously irresponsible' about it at all.Tank fly boss walk jam nitty gritty...0 -

thanks for letting us know what to expect. I'm also going to Turkey with TC in less than 3 weeks time. I don't like the idea of waiting until the day before we're due to fly out to find out if we are going or not. I would prefer to postpone my holiday at the very latest a week before we're due to travel, because of work etc...But, I know this is not possible. The tour operators have already lost a fortune and some will probably go out of buisness over this. We'll just have to sit tight and wait and see what happens and keep our fingers firmly crossed!0 -

Quick call social services. Its not irresponsible, its life. Most familes only just scrape the money together for a holiday and spending money, are we now expected to save extra, or are we going to be forced to stay in the UK, why should those with loads of money sitting in the bank be able to go on holiday more than those who dont have loads of money - i doubt anybody ever considered that a volcano erupting in iceland would affect the world the way it has.
Most people who do have an emergency manage to eventually sort it out, but this is happening on a glabal scale not just 1 person on holiday.Oldernotwiser wrote: »And what would happen to their holiday?
Obviously they wouldnt be able to go cos we spent all their cash and left them well and truly up poop creek.
They'd get it back obviusly and we'd have a very tight month and ebay might get some new items added to help us recover the money, but thats for us to sort out, should it happen. Were just greatful for the offer, if it was the other way around and my mum and dad were travelling first, i'd do the same for them and i wouldnt give our holiday a second thought, i'd just want them home safe and sound.:TIs thankful to those who have shared their :T

But the OP has said that there's nobody she could borrow from so her situation is different from hers.0 -

For the same reason that they drive better cars and live in bigger houses! What a ridiculous thing to say!0 -
Yes there is no one no could borrow from (there is now that my mum offered) but i reckon if it happened people would pull together to help. I guess its one of those times where we'd find out who our friends were.
DF's side would help out but we wouldnt here the end of it till the end of time, it wouldnt be worth the hassle. And i refuse point blank to ask but i have my own reasons for that, yes i would rather be stranded with no cash than ask the MIL to help.
But now ive spent the day on this forward planning i think we are pretty much sorted and plans in place for most eventualities.:TIs thankful to those who have shared their :T

I better put my house on the market and sell up quick, i have buildings and contents insurance, but havent got 1000's sitting in the bank just in case.
I better sell my car, again i am insured but OMG i dont think i have any money saved to pay the excess should we have an accident or should some uninsured driver run us off the road again.
In fact i think i'll just not bother getting out of bed tommorrow - just in case.:TIs thankful to those who have shared their :T

The flight is with thomsons and the apartment is self catering from them thro Lowcost beds.
We had already annual holiday insurance with Insure and Go, who I think are not covering anything to do with this situation.
Is it too late to cancel our holiday and would we get any refund at all? I did not want to clog up phones ringing Sunshine, when we are not due to until Friday week. Also we have booked and paid for carpark at Gatwick with airparks though AA.
Any advice would be much appreciated thanks.
Hi there, hopefully this will of cleared by your holiday, I had a booking for low cost beds and unfortunatley they are not refunding or changing dates of any hotel bookings, £350 down the drain as Direct Travel insurance do not cover us either! Should your flight be cancelled you will be refunded or change dates, not sure about your car parking.:money: giving me & my darling boys a better cheaper life
