My local Lidl has loads of rock hard avocados at the mo. You have to buy them a month in advance as it takes that long to get them to ripen. In the winter I gave up as they sat in our freezing 1940's style kitchen on the stone shelf and just went black instead.
I should have stuck to swedes.:o
Good luck with the party LIR .....you feeling OK now?
lol, I got hard ones too, but hopefully will be ripe in time.
Feel fine to day and got loads done, yippee! doing as silvercar and lemon jelly said and making sure drinking enough, not trying to ride until just before seeing someone, so they can see whats happening afterwards. Crazy, two sticks on saturday afternoon, but pretty sure I could dance today :rotfl:0 -
I came in to this world with nothing and I've still got most of it left. :rolleyes:0

TBH, worse could have happened.
The government were in a no win situation, fly and have a plane have any trouble at all there would be outrage.
The biggest issue is that insurance doesn't cover acts of god, and like many say about mortgages ..;) life hapens, and a contingency fund is always good. the poeple moaning about having to drive up through france, what a great oppertunity! I honestly think some people just like moaning, because I would have, despite worry about the extra expense, loved the detour through france, and used to opportunity to stock yp on grog. as I did when we drove back from Italy.0 -

Sabretooth tiger posted a link elswhere and I looked around the site.
20 winners and losers from the shutdown though I could only see 2 winners and it didn't include the ferries and car hire companies which have done some serious business recently.0 -

To end today on a positive note...if and it's a big if the flights don't resume full time or are sporadic for a few months then the remainder of my delivery won't go and I will have to keep it....which could be a good thing as those who import are beginning to panic a bit I heard today as everyone works in 'Just in Time' with tiny stock levels.0

Well I thought they would go with the "thing" on your "oh-so middle class" forehead;)In case you hadn't already worked it out - the entire global financial system is predicated on the assumption that you're an idiot:cool:0 -

A tip I got from a friend was to put them in a brown paper bag with an apple. Apparently the apple gives off some kind of ripening vibe.0 -
Well...flights back on, armageddon cancelled and avocado shipments resumed....plus my mini cargo of pointless consumer goods will go to US in a couple of days way hay.:j
Asheron posts a dodgy flight but Viv states it is incorrect as he got the make of aircraft wrong.
I will confess.....very quietly...that if it had gone on for a while, we would have done OK out of it...but no matter...back to competing for customer spend on selling goods made @ £7 per hour labour rate against those made @ 20p per hour0
