That sounds like a good way of doing things, people generally pull together but I am wondering how bad this will get as its global.
My DH has American colleagues over who now cant get back so is busy entertaining one of them who is flying from Bristol, the rest are now in London as flying from Heathrow. But they are all fit and well and using their company credit cards for meals and accommodation so not too bad for them.“A budget is telling your money where to go instead of wondering where it went.” - Dave Ramsey0 -
People can't get avocados? How will we ever cope?
Some people need to grow a pair, and rediscover their British "spirit"
.In case you hadn't already worked it out - the entire global financial system is predicated on the assumption that you're an idiot:cool:0 -
Erm, I think you'll find this thread is an in-joke, Jonbvn. Not to be taken seriously.
The chances of any real shortages are very, very low... we can bring in anything we actually need via boat.
I'm more worried about the fact it's looking like we might not be able to get rid of our drunken yobs to cheap foreign resorts during the summer holiday... shudder...“The ideas of debtor and creditor as to what constitutes a good time never coincide.”

I work in a boarding school with a significant proportion of overseas boarders. We expect that a lot of them won't be able to turn up for school for some time. Still, last year the swine flu thingy prompted the management to ask us all to prepare ways of teaching kids remotely through the school's website etc in case of school closure, so we've got all that system ready. It's going to be a bit weird having lots learning remotely but lots of others in school as usual, though. Just hoping the kids can get back into this country in time for the public exams, although I'm sure lots of people are rushing round sorting out contingency plans in case they can't. International Baccalaureate exams start in just a couple of weeks.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0
