    I realised how much I feel close to everyone here when I was looking at this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6jjsRK4QUNw&feature=channel and wanted to post asking if the haircut on Martina McBride would suit me. Then I realised none of you know what I look like :D

    Made me :rotfl:at myself ;)

    TBH, where I'd have to worry is if my MIL or any other IL "found" me here and realised how many of their Christmas pressies come from charity shops etc :D Have therefore not sent them Martin's emails :D

    :rotfl::rotfl:That's really made me laugh.

    If we get any messages from my mother someone's doing a very dodgy experiment with a ouji board and a PC. The freakiest things these days is when I find myself standing like her, talking like her, looking like her. I swear my graduation photo was actually her!

    Ames, I think it comes from my mum having us young - she is only 20 yrs older than me, so we've grown up together in some ways.

    Also, and I don't know how she will react to this... but she found me here, so I can say what I like ;) (within reason)... I think when your parents are disabled, the relationship shifts a bit - it isn't all about your parents being in control, you parent them back a bit. You get involved in debates with them about what is good for them, not just them telling you what is good for you (IYSWIM). I think it then makes the relationship more two way than one way. My ILs run their own business and when I commented on their business activities with my professional experience hat on, I think they had to adjust (with difficulty) to the idea I had a business brain and wasn't just the young girl their son brought home years ago. They don't tend to ask advice or opinions of us, just offer them. With my parents there is lots of sharing of ideas and just random carp :)

    Don't they tell men to look at their MIL as that is what their wife will turn into? :D My Mum and I have the same phone voice, and similar facial features, but different hair colour and shape.

    Sorry for the delay in replying Katsu but was bawling my eyes out! So much my glasses were steamed up and I had to mop up to even see the screen! ;):rotfl:

    Can you EVER imagine you and I getting offended with each other and not speaking - cos I can't! lol I think we know each other so well that we know when we are risking overstepping any marks and we both pull back at different times - it's never been a problem.

    I read your thoughts with interest and I do understand what you are saying. Unfortunately the disabilities first kicked in when you were quite young so I suppose you don't really remember when I was able to live a reasonably active, normal life, dad more latterly so. I grinned at the bit about "parenting" us......does this mean that I now have permission to be a typical recycled teenager and a complete pain in the !!! to you?????? hehehehe

    I don't think we ever consciously thought about NOT discussing things with you, your OH and your DB......we just do because it comes naturally and because we have always genuinely valued your opinions, suggestions, support etc. But then you and I have always talked about anything and everything, or in your own words "random carp"!! For instance, last Wednesday when I had the news of how successful the treatment had been since February, the first ones I wanted to talk to, apart from dad, were you and your DB and share the news......it's just the way we are! :D:D

    Like I said to you and your DB, I am putting myself through this treatment for ALL of us, so we can have a normal family life again instead of all the stressy stuff and so I can be part of things and not on the edge of it all. Besides, I'm not ready to shuffle off my mortal coil yet without returning the compliment of being the cause of a few random white hairs !!! lolol
    Oh and I want to be around to enjoy actually being DF and reap the benefits!!! ;)
