There used to be a BT line but she cancelled it. I will check out Primus 2.
I think you'll find you have to stay with BT for your line rental for at least three months anyway as a re-connection0 -
Got BT line installed today just waiting for it to show on the availablity checker list before I can get broadband0

for what is worth primus do both my calls and broband been with them for 2 months wilth no probs0

Had new modem etc from Pipex yesterday. They said activation date was 24th but it all worked yesterday and at a better speed than I had thought I would get.
Thanks for all your help0 -
I'm not ready to commit to 18 months line rental/broadband with anybody but need to get a BT landline re-enabled and broadband-ed up ASAP.
I've checked the line by dialling 17070 and the number is still current - do I have to ask BT to enable it or is there anyone cheaper/quicker/better ?
Once enabled I only need *incoming calls only, if possible* (a BT monthly contract, I suspect) and cheap broadband with no ties - I expect to sign up for a long term deal with a provider in the summer when I've settled in a bit !
Any advice on:
(a) who to enable the line ?
(b) who to pay line rental to ?
(c) who to get for no ties broadband ? (with a simple/inexpensive exit policy)
Would be most gratefully received !
Many Thanks, Tim0 -
Namesco are an excellent ISP (I have used them for some years now), but I can't see any sign that they're giving broadband out at £5 a month on that link?No free lunch, and no free laptop0

You'll have to commit to 12 months line rental anyway if you get BT to reconnect you. Very few ISP''s do an open 30 day contract, because they have to pay BT to set up the broadband connection, and if you go after a couple of months they never earn this back. All the best deals are 12 months or more.No free lunch, and no free laptop0

Post Office couldn't guarantee a 'cheap' reconnection, said it might cost 'over £100' where as Phone Co-Op agreed to do it for £5.75 so went with them - will have it done within 5 days too, apparently.
Have signed up for their standard line rental and (probably) Plusnet's cheap monthly & no connection charge 18 month deal via Quidco in a day or 2 - biting the bullet.
Thanks all, for your advice. Tim0
