Whilst I am all for an honest bargain I think we should all consider the long term effects of continuous abuse from so many people. As a nation we are in terrible economic straits and whilst I honestly appreciate that for some of us we need to look to make our money go as far as possible. However how many companys can cope with the effects of basically having to give their stock away. Would it have the potential to finish an organisation...if so what about employees....I have been doing some soul searching and think we need to consider the long term effects of this type of stupidity....a little restraint could go a long way!!!!!Hello Payday! How are. . Hey where are you going? . . Please don't walk out on me.
. Come back!0 -
On card verification it told me the full amount (without the £10 off) so I didn't order

That's all very well, but Very have screwed me over in the near past (resulting in me losing money and my daughter losing a wardrobe!!) I'm sure they aren't sitting there worrying about me and my life. maybe if they treated their customers a little better and didn't over price things knowing some people can't afford to pay outright for them, people wouldn't abuse the system. As far as i'm concerned, i won't be using them anymore and i wouldn't blame anyone else for not using them either, maybe that's the better way to go, just not use them at all.Man who run into airport turn-styles is going to Bangkok

Had two canx orders, going to ring thru and do the right thing and canx the third, I am bricking it at the idea of being investigated for fraud for a tenners worth of clothes!Learning to be 'good with money'0
-
I hardly think its a fraud! Goodness it would cost them a fortune, its just a threat I am sure. Advice please, do I need to cancel the order?

I called, she said my card was declined, so I asked to re-order, she said ok, and the codes wouldnt work so she put them through manually, then advised me my order was £12 WITH the £10 discount, I advised her the item was £12 online, she basically said that the item was on offer online...so I cancelled! I am not on existing customer and paid via card!0

Hi, placed an order with very and used the discount codes, all went through fine but 3 minutes later had a call off very asking me where i had got the discount codes from and that i had no right using them. She told me if i opened a credit account with them that i then could use the codes, otherwise my card would be charged for the order. I told her to cancel the order instead, which she has done. She wasn't a very pleasant woman and its no way to attract customers, which i would have become because i fancied quite a few things off their site, and, they cannot do anything about it fraud wise all they can do is either cancel your order or charge you for the goods, and that is in there own terms and conditions. So nobody panic too much.0

Just trawling around for info on Very, Littlewoods etc...
Found Browntoa's post from Discount thread forum (contains link to Martin's warning) - I think Martin's sums up the situ with these codes fairly well
HTH someone
reminder from the start of the Littlewoods code thread (same group)

Martin had to step in once before and left this warning as he said they would not back down again.

"09 November 2007 For Immediate Release: Littlewoods
£25 Discount Voucher Code Issue
Further to the recent issue of the abuse of a specific £25 discount code; the Company acknowledges that while we were entitled to take a firm stance against this code abuse, as supported by Liverpool Trading Standards, the fact that we have done so has caused concern amongst some of our customers.
As a gesture of goodwill, on this occasion the Company has agreed it will take no further action to claim the £25 from those people who were not entitled to the discount. In addition, for those customers who have already paid the £25, it will make a refund of this amount. Any additional related charges will be refunded, or reversed if not yet paid.
Customers have the responsibility to ensure they are using a discount for which they are eligible. Our terms & conditions (attached) make it clear that promotional codes must only be used by customers who qualify for them. These can be viewed on the website.
The Company confirms that no default information will appear at the credit reference agencies as a result of the action it has taken.
If in doubt customers should only use discount codes which have been given to them directly by the Company, and should check the conditions which apply to them.
Littlewoods Terms & Conditions relating to discount vouchers
2.3 Where you have redeemed a promotional code or any other offer ("a Code") against your order, acceptance of this order is subject to our verifying that the Code has been issued to you personally, that you comply with all the terms of the offer and qualify for the Code. In the event that the Code has not been issued to you for your personal use or you do not qualify for the offer, the price of the order will be adjusted notwithstanding any email or other confirmation that you receive."

another part from Martins post :-
MoneySavers need to see this as a strong warning
I do have some sympathy for Littlewoods here. This voucher code didn't just break Littlewood's rules, it broke this site's as well. There is a prominent note at the top of this board which explains "only post vouchers which are 'open to all' and always check you know the source when you use them."
This didn't happen in this case, and it's arguable that Littlewoods would've been within its rights to take people to Court for fraudulent activity.
Luckily Littlewoods was approachable and friendly and we've managed to sort it out. However going forward it's important for people to realise that if you use voucher codes that you're not allowed to, while they may work, you may be asked for the money back.
Of course, the counter side is that Littlewoods' voucher code system isn't able to allocate individual codes or verify at the time that the correct person is using them. So it must burden a good chunk of the blame for this too.
Don't misuse Littlewoods codes going forward... I won't be able to help
Everything should sort itself out. However I do want to point out that as part of my conversations with Littlewoods, on the back of this solution I did give it my word that as part of that, if something similar happened again I would not intervene again.
Of course it also needs to introduce safeguards on its site to stop this happening, plus a more prominent warning that misusing voucher codes could be fraudulent would help.
Yet if anyone publishes an ineligible Littlewoods voucher code either here or on another discount vouchers forum; it's worth warning others of the danger - as I think we've had all the leeway we're getting.
And please be careful with codes in the future, frankly I think we've been lucky on this one, I wouldn't want to test that luck again.

I will cancel the order, its a shame because I thought it looked like a good site and a great intro offer, I would have bought more things from them but not if they are going to be unpleasant. Its up them to to make sure their site is secure and not expect the general public to know which codes are for what purposes. A lot of places have discount codes that can be used. What they really need to do is sort out their IT. If they charge me more than I authorised then in my opnion THEY are the ones commiting a fraud. They have left a message on my phone. I assume its for them to tell me that they wojuld charge me full price, which I seem to think they MUST do if they want to take it off my debit card0
