Hi there! This is the Daily Thread for 16th April. It is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new Daily Thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Dailys' live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just as good.

Morning

Friday and I am long weekend off, so I shall enjoy the ash while it is here... I mean sun.

Anyone seen any ash yet? We have frost this morning, so I am glad I was not too hasty with planting out.

Anyone watch the election debate last night? I think they tried to make it a bit of a slanging match, but I felt it was pretty lame. The policies were pretty much the same and it leads me to believe who ever we get will be 5 years of much the same....
What about real issues like petrol prices, air taxes, lazy idle scroungers and benefit cheats? Pot holes. £5 billion a year wasted on fighting the Taliban seems to be OK with all parties....

Back to reality, shopping yesterday and not too many offers about. Diesel 118 in Asda. At least I can still get a nice bottle of shiraz in Asda for £3...

No idea what to do today, may go for a walk near the Lizard, Britains most southerly point. Probably ash free :p

Cheers
NO to pasty tax We won!!!! Just shows that people power works! Don't be apathetic to your cause!

Off to work here but not til 9, then Monday start back at 7. Oh well it was nice while it lasted. Hubby's been asked to do a late shift, 6 til 10 at school next week as they are short staffed.
    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester

Oh saw the cloud, but he is stuck in Copenhagen.....should have landed in Manchester at 6.30 tonight, but now driving 600 miles from Copenhagen to Brussels, he's got a Eurostar ticket & should get to London Saturday evening, then got to get back up to the NW by train....at least we're not paying :p

Think Mr B was the better of a bad bunch, but he has had a bit more practice than the other 2!

    Morning All

N9eav, hope your weekend is nice and sunny! On the subject of the debate, I think VInce Cable surprised me the most, I think he would make a good PM,but am a bit worried that a vote for them would be wasted, oh well, maybe we will get proprtional representation eventually.
Hester hurrah for overtime, aslongasthey "remember" to pay him for it!
floss hopeOH gets home in one piece.

Had to get up early and put thw wheeliebin out, forgot it was Friday today. OH is in the shower, he's off to Edinburgh today again, his new job starts officially on Sunday so he's got keys and paperwork to sort out today, but is expected to be home early, which means the patio will be finished Hurray!

Coc is lying on the floor with hiccups. Someone asked how she got on at Dog Borstal the other night and I forgot to replt, sorry, I think it might have been BBrain. She did so well, they used her for a demo, but is very stubborn, and won't do a lot of things, even for garlic sausage!:rotfl:

Plan for today is..more of the same, housework, which I plan on having done before the boys get up today, then out in my garden, and supermarket when OH returns. YOungest DS needs new trainers, so off to the outlet shop for those too, I fear!

Have a lovely day, OS or not, and feel the love with a hug from me!

Feeling a bit brighter today and hopefully will have a better day :D
Did all housework yesterday seems as DS was in a bad mood...it was difficult with my rib pain but I managed it.
Today we are going to make chocolate ice cream....DS`s favourite, have never made chocolate flavour before so fingers crossed;).
He also wants to do some reading...he got fed up with the "baby" type books he can read himself so I got hold of an old copy of Enid Blytons Magic Faraway Tree and am going to read a chapter to him each night. I read the first chapter to him last night and he seemed to enjoy it as he wants the next chapter today as he is at his dads tonight. I loved those books when I was little:T.
We are having pancakes for our lunch today(DS fave) need to go to co op again:o:cool: but DS has been warned/bribed that if he behaves and holds my hand he can have a cake from the bakers....why is it that I make all my own bread, biscuits and cakes but ones from the bakers are a treat?:p
JackieO that hotel looks fab:), just had a look at it. I love the 1930s and Art Nouveau and Art Deco.....so much so that my little wedding is based around it, hence the 1930s gown:D. I hope your DGS and his GF get away tomorrow....it just said on news it could be late tonight before flights get going properly:o
  • Morning peeps

Quite grey here at the moment and a bit nippy, but at least we have lost that cold wind for now.

Nothing much planned today apart from washing and trying to get it on the line to dry.
Local Bobby due round for neighbourhood watch questionaire so will not be going to town till later on - I forgot to pay some cheques into the bank yesterday and I have some library books to take back.

Asked DH to get my scooter out of the car so that I can pop down and he said wait till I get home and I will take you - I love him to bits and I know he worries but he really doesn't understand that I want to go down on my own and that I want the little bit of independance the scooter gives me. :(

Oh well that's my little moan for today

Diva ......I hope you are feeling better and can join us regularly again soon ......I miss the purple but N9eav is doing well in your place. :T

Got a lovely night's sleep, it was so quiet with no bloomin' planes going over at 2 am - lovely I could get used to that :D

Oh well off to start the mountain that is the wash pile

    have Good days All x x x x x

    Morning !!!!!!!!!

Well its a cold but a sunny all shiny morning:D.

    How is everyone today?

Got an exciting day today, oh yes, cleaning out car again, oh the joy. But on the upside it might by end of today :D. Whether it be through espay or from a person we know.
THe house is going to be torn apart and cleaned (i wish) by me and the kids, then i think were going to go out a play in park (i hope).

If it all goes well and i escape two whining hyperactive children who aren't my own i'll be happy. Had them one day and they cost a fortune, nearly cried in my hands.

Right had me morning cuppa, going to go and sort this car out now, while the young ones are in bed .

    bye for now xxx

    Morning all,

Its a bit dull here this morning, hopefully the sun will come out later, no ash here at all,I suppose we are too far south.

Work today, but finish early so a nice day, when I get back I will run dd to the station, she is off to her mates for the night and then tomorrow they are all spending the day at a local beach with a bbq, I hope the weather is nice for them.

So its just OH and I tonight, will get OH to make a nice hot chilli, and open a bottle ;).

Little dog seems to have hurt her leg, she is limping really badly, it was too late to get her to the vet last night, so I looked on the interweb :D, which said to keep her warm, so I made her a hot water bottle and wrapped her in her blanket, she loved it :o she enjoys the fuss, I will see how she is today, and phone the vet later on.

I did a wash last night which has been on the line all night, will get dd to get it in later, she also needs to tidy her room before she goes.

More washing and tidying to do tonight, then hopefully a relaxing evening.

    Have good days all xx

    morning all

on the debate last night, I think they are all the same, I just wish we could have some people running the country who are honest and trustworthy and actually want to improve things for us rather than themselves

very cloudy here and really chilly , plants are ok in my mini greenhouse so far , spuds are chitting well on the window sill :D

DD1 has gcse revision morning at school today for her spanish, I will drop her off and pop to tesco , then after lunch we will go to the gym and work off the gammon , fried eggs and chips I had yesterday :o

hope everyone has a lovely day

Diva how are you doing ?
