I use a flat king size sheet on a double matress. There's plenty to tuck in round the edges and it stays put!

me too! Fitted sheets are useless with my OH who must swim in his sleep. My side of the bed stay neatly tucked in, whereas his ends up all over the place

Thanks for all the great suggestions!

I thought about just getting a bigger sheet too Becles - then OH can do the sheets as his brief spell int he army means he does v.good hospital corners!

I just looked on the Betterware site and found that their clips are half price at present - although P&P cranks it up. Might have to investigate the bits and pieces to make them OS style...

Thanks again for all the suggestions. The sooner I sort this out the better as remaking the bed every morning before work is v.annoying!

MIL had some that were essentially,a braces clip at each end of a large flat strap. I suppose you could use them with webbing and one of those shoulder strap adjusters to get it good and tight.

Okay I had to post because this is starting to drive me nuts!

Basically we got a new bed yesterday and I was trying to put the sheet on and make it look all nice and smooth. I've always struggled with sheets because they never seem to be big enough but it seemed more important yesterday because of the nice new bed (and possibly silly pregnant hormones?? :o)

So I had to ask, those of you who use fitted sheets, can you ever get them to be under the bottom corners of the matress on all 4 sides? My friend says his mum can do it but he hasn't got a clue so I wondered if there was a knack to it! :rotfl:

Or should I just buy king size sheets to put on our double bed?

I've never had a problem with this but I reckon I need a new mattress because the sheets don't pull across so tight now! I have seen somewhere where sheets come in different sizes for different depth mattresses - might have been Redoute. Is it the size of the mattress of the depth that's a problem?

I bought my dd a bed when she moved into her new house. I bought the frame from Ikea in a sale and the mattress from elsewhere and when we put them together the mattress was way to small for the bed so had to take it back and get an Ikea mattress (at more cost:mad:) so consequently the fitted sheets she had didn't fit either so more cost at getting Ikea sheets!

  • That may well be the problem- Ikea make their mattressess bigger than the norm for over here - great for longer people though. I can just about fit an ordinary single fitted sheet onto one of their mattresses but a double just pings off again!

I had the same problem, I have a normal double bed and king size sheets, plus a King size duvet, fewer arguments about who's nicking the duvet

I do it no problem on both my 3 sons double beds and my king size beds. Ok it's a struggle but I can do it.

Best sheets I've found for doing it though are flannelette as they tend to be a bit bigger than normal fitted sheets.

Just a thought could it be that your mattress is a lot thicker than a standard mattress and this is the reason you struggle. If so you might be better going up to the next size.

PS I more often than not break a nail or two when I do the beds, worst bit about doing the sheets and trying to stretch them over.
