Cn they single out one person to go part time and leave others full time? There must be some employment legislation about fairness. Although I suppose that may rock a shaky boat.Mortgage restart June 2018 £119950Re mortgage August 19 £110470, … Mortgage November 22 £85600 final 0% CC 3300Home renovations - £65000, mid 2018 - mid 20225

Oh New girly, sorry to hear your news (delayed response, sorry!), but I get the feeling it wasn't much of a surprise. I wonder if they're getting rid of DH full-time because it was his business? Not fair, but possible.
I'd second what SC said about the factory - what if they default? Or cease trading but you can't get a new tenant in straight away (because they leave all the stuff there or whatever, not necessarily because of the economic climate) - I'd make sure you have some savings or something to pay your mortgage just in case, otherwise you could be in a really tricky situation.
Did DD hear back about the job (apologies, you may have mentioned this, but I can't see anything)?
Glad you're feeling like it's a challenge though and remember, it's not for ever, things will improve and you'll be able to do the planned things with the kids - you've got youth on your side!
Re the Post Office, have you checked a little one/counter hasn't opened up in a convenience store nearby - we have several of these (including a relatively newly opened one). And on Geraldine, could you SORN her and park her up for a bit and manage on one car? (Possibly not with public transport situation, but it might save some money). I'd second what Greent says about courier service - it does make it easier, especially if you have a lot of stuff going out the door.Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

I would watch out for any offer to buy the factory from them now you are “in financial difficulties”. I don’t know if they felt you had the rent to live off so could afford to take the hit or if it is a squeeze out.MortgageStart Nov 2012 £310,000

Hi guys thanks for all the comments 🙂
I’m really not sure what the reasoning is and maybe will never know, it could just be money saving I guess. Dh has offered to go full time for a little extra but we haven’t had a reply yet.Our thoughts are heads down and hang in there for the moment while trying to clear that mortgage ASAP as a back up, doing that frees up the rent which can then go to an emergency pot, but removes the emergency pot if that makes sense! we have a lease but nothing is ever 100% , the unit is quite sought after even with the covid issues as people may want to downsize to it. An emergency fund is a priority though.Hi mfd’s ,I don’t think we are in a position to make a fuss unfortunately as it’s all so complicated!Hi Vix, dd did get the job and has had an induction and starts next week thanks , I will need Geraldine to run her there for the moment though 🙂Hi lady gnome, they never wanted the factory when they took over which I thought they would to be honest.MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁5 -

😆 yes, I need a reason to keep her!Not going well this week, Dh’s uncle has passed away today, his mum is obviously very upset and intent on going to the funeral (they are Spanish so it’s in Spain) but it’s so risky for her, flights are not going anywhere near there so it would mean many stop overs and crazily long flight times, and she’s over 80 with many health issues. Younger brother , dh and fil were trying to gently say how risky it might be when older brothers wife rang to take over and say they would sort it out and she must go 😡. We are not even sure she could attend the funeral yet, the only info I can find is weeks out of date.Frugal July is now a thing, or at least I’m hoping it will be here!Planned spending :
2x birthday takeaways , one for dd , one for the boys
mil gave us £100 to give the kids a bit (not for their birthday) and treat ourselves and dh suggested we use it for one of the meals, so that’s a big help.Three birthday cakes - supermarket ones, not kind enough to have them made and not cruel enough to bake myself 😆
A bit of booze to celebrate , I put a couple of bottles in this weeks shop and will do next week too, all from the grocery budget
gift wrap for the boys, I only have a stash of very girly stuff left
coffee money as I’m meeting up with friends as and when I can for sanity’s sake 😬
That is it for July , I promise only petrol and food spending money other than that 😇MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁6
