Hi vix, it’s expensive but it’s more the experience I’ve had with them in the past, they refused to give me final prices of treatment that had already been done and were quite rude, I rang for a bill and when I arrived it was £100’s more than they said five mins before on the phone, and it was already in the thousands (no insurance 😱) I literally stood at the counter juggling various cards and cash I’d got together with all the kids with me when they were little and we were quite broke!
Good news from Boris today, looks like getting everyone in the house together in the near future 😬 all their birthdays are July so that’s good. Just checked all the finances and we have scraped by this month, although food was much lower than usual, spending was the same due to the vet and my little jaunt to Asda and primarni yesterday. I’ve £92 left in the current account (some would have been op’d normally) for the last shop of June, it’s hopefully more than we need as I want to skim a bit off each week towards a takeaway for dds birthday in three weeks time.
Dd did not have a great time at the new job, worked hard and the manager was pleased with her, but she overheard some staff being rather unpleasant about her and telling the manager she was making mistakes with orders and some other rather nasty things. He was with her the whole shift and said don’t worry I know you were not doing any orders yet so it couldn’t have been you, plus he was training her! Very odd dynamic and as it’s such a nightmare journey and a rough area, I’m glad she’s not staying. She applied for a job in our local town today so fingers crossed.Still no news from work, very annoying....MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁7 -
great news for the cat. fingers crossed DD gets the closer job... #bekind didn't last long did it? Thanks mfd’s, sounds more like the staff were in charge not him 😆
£6.56 op today thanks to tcb, in these rather slender times that feels very good. I think I might do a list of what I can do to move things on a bit, I took out two new accounts in jan to get switching bonuses, perhaps they could be switched again plus there is a £100 “float” in each I could use if I close them and use the main account for the dd’s. The challenge is on in July as it’s all three kids birthdays (presents budgeted for) so a couple of takeaways and some drink, I’ve already got some decorations and we will just light up the garden with fairy lights and candles. So all in all I’ll be pleased if we can stick to a grocery & petrol of £500 and an everything else / newgirly personal spends budget of £115.MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁6 -
Wow it’s hot today, not much happening really except washing. I’ve arranged a trip to York with my parents in a few weeks when we are allowed. Apart from diesel it will be a zero spend trip hopefully as we don’t have a budget for it! I’ve a little cash I can offset for about half a tank, other than that I’m digging out the picnic set and camping chairs and we can just drive out to the moors maybe. Will be good to get out into the space of the outdoors, walking round the suburbs is not the same.MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁5

The trip to York sounds nice!
I hope DD gets the other job - those do not sound like nice people to work with! You sound like you're on top of things with the birthdays and budget - takeaway in the garden sounds like an excellent idea.Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

Thanks Vix 🙂
A bit of spending done today from the Xmas pot, I’ve been waiting for p@ndora to email me if an Aladdin charm comes back in stock which they hadn’t and I spotted it in the sale today and managed to get one for dd before it sold out, as it’s gold coloured I’ve got her a matching bracelet to match with about 70% off, as well as the charm for half price, I’ll give her a bit of money then that’s her more or less done 😁As we are nearing July (apologies to all “normal” people who don’t look forward to Xmas in June 😂) I’m wasting time planning Xmas presents and decorations. I would say it’s to cheer myself up, but that would be a lie as I’m like this every year 😬 Im reigning in the spending this year for obvious reasons, but also attempting to limit the amount I buy the kids to five presents each plus a silly bits and bobs stocking.I made jack Monroe’s lentil lasagne finally today, and had two takers apart from myself and the comments were “really nice“ and “ok” I will make it again as it’s cheap and healthy, and mostly store cupboard bits. Cooking from scratch does take a lot longer especially not using any jars but I have plenty of time and not a lot of money so it’s worth it.Tomorrow’s menu will be mushroom rogan josh and rice/ left over chilli and rice and pie and mash from the freezer for fussy ds1. I’m really enjoying cooking on a budget, let’s hope that feeling lasts 😁MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁6 -
Two little ops made, one late last night for £3.56 and again this morning £1.30 , both had tracked on tcb 🙂
I will do a meal plan today for the week, not too rigid but more a few recipes I’ll try out. It’s food shop order day today, still doing the click and collect. I think after all this I might stick to deliveries from asd@ as the food has been good, however we have been going to a branch further away so who knows!Meeting a friend today to get a takeaway coffee and walk to the park, nice and early through as it will be scorching later.MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁6 -
Fed up with the hot weather! The cat is suffering in the heat, I had to take her back to the vet yesterday as her tail was rather unpleasant 😱 all good though and she’s going for a final check next week to make sure, she is now wearing a cone so it’s very fed up. Only £22 per follow up appointment - it’s a revelation to me!Dd went for an interview today very part time but she was really keen so fingers crossed, they finish interviews tomorrow and will let her know by phone. Not much else happening really 🙂MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁4
