😆 It is going in the offset Vix, pencilled in my little book under the “factory mortgage” column. After putting it in the spreadsheet along with half the furlough money for the next three months, plus a (fingers crossed) 4K company dividend a year, plus an extra £150pm we should be looking at knocking about 16 months off the 5 year term. Then we can snowball everything at the home mortgage, which would then end at about April 2025.Who knows the odds of that all coming together though! On the plus side I’ve not added any wages for me at all past the July furlough payment, so anything after that will be a big bonus!
Lockdown is really making me think about what I spend on and also what I spend my time doing. I really want to get back to getting back to basics more, my hair is this biggest expense that could be reduced if I wasn’t very blonde. I do love it though and have found the cheapest salon locally, so I’m still thinking about that, I might consider using a box blonde just to try a few highlights at home while on lockdown. Scary stuff though!Shopping less for things that don’t last or buying too much of things (cheap pyjamas and summer sandals a good example!) as well as planning to buy things that do make life easier. I’ve never bought a decent knife, when I say decent I mean over about £5 🙄 as I can get a cheap one so why waste money? But you use it everyday so a better one would make life a little easier, multiply that by most of the things we have really!MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁6 -
Definitely try the at-home colouring, you've got nothing to lose and the only people that will see it if it goes wrong are your family (and if they laugh at you, you can just tell them they are making their own home-cooked curries 😀)
I bought BF a set of kitchen knives a few years ago, I think they were £35 for 5 in a smart magnetised block - should hopefully see him through to the end of his days!Mortgage start: £65,495 (March 2016)

Perhaps now is the perfect time to try out your natural hair colour for a while and experiment with learning new styles from YouTube:) if you land up liking it you could save all the money and time7

We have a very expensive set of Japanese steel kitchen knives (think they cost just over £500 for 6.....) - I'd say stick with cheap ones, tbh!I am the master of my fate; I am the captain of my soulRepaid mtge early (orig 11/25) 01/09 £124616 01/11 £89873 01/13 £52546 01/15 £12133 07/15 £NILNet sales 2024: £203

I would go for a cheaper set too. We were gifted a set and block of gl0bal knives costing over £200 some years ago but if you drop one on the floor they can snap the tip off or snap in 2! The block and set of 6 that cost about £35 we replaced them with when I was down to the last 2 are still going strong.Save £10,500 - £2673.77 - 25.5%

Oh dear just wiped out a huge post! Thanks for the advice guys, I shall take it onboard 🙂
I’ve ordered some very blonde dye online (box colour but with bleach I think) and a cap and hook to try out a few highlights, if it goes ok I will do all of it a few weeks later. I’m used to dying at home with darker colours but that’s much less risky than blonde 😱
It’s been a funny few days here, I’ve felt quite down missing dd, and also not felt that great (a bit dizzy) ok not though and no other symptoms so could just be a rubbish diet and lack of movement 🙄.In much better news though, I had a nice shock yesterday as Dad has given my brother and I £12,500 each out of the blue 😱😱😱 I didn’t know what for so asked mum who said he wanted to help out and we should spend some. I can’t do that right now though! So I’ve decided to take out the £500 and split it equally between dh and I and the kids, the rest can go in the offset for now.So dh will put his towards a bicycle, I’m buying some emm@ bridgewater bits, dd will probably buy food as she’s at her boyfriends , ds1 is saving it is his isa, and ds2 probably spent his on toot online 5 minutes after it hit his account 😆
I think because I’ve not felt well I’ve not really got my head around it all yet, I’ll have a think about it all tomorrow perhaps!MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁7 -

Yes, it still doesn’t feel real yet! I’m going to have a look at the spreadsheets today and probably transfer it all to the offset, I am wondering whether to keep a bit back in premium bonds as long term holiday savings for dhs 50th as we put the cruise refund in the mortgage pot not the holiday pot. Not sure 🤔MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁6
