What a lovely gift NG! When is DH’s 50th? Saving it for that sounds like a good plan - you have it available if things get dire, but can tell your parents that that’s what you’re going to spend it on (so they feel like it’s ‘fun’ money).Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

I’ve had a think about the money and a talk with dh, who is as usual not that fussed about the details of where it’s going. So the decision made is £100 each for the five of us, £1000 into premium bonds (aka holiday pot) and the rest in the offset (£11k)I’ve also flipped the £1598 cruise refund to the premium bonds as we have more than we did a few days ago 😬
The logistics of mixing the ops with the factory mortgage have been bothering me a bit, dh and I have our own separate domains and he leaves me alone with the home finances and I leave him with the work ones! (Well that’s not true I like to have nosey and then disagree 😂) so I think the offset money may be earmarked for the home mortgage only unless he loses his job. The share dividends that come from the company will still go there, but I feel more comfortable especially with extra money gifted that it goes to the home loan first, he is ok with this and probably relived that I won’t be harassing him for information and checking accounts. It’s all irrelevant anyway I guess as everything is in the offset as we don’t know how to op the factory loan yet 🤔
Lazy day today, dh worked an extra day as they are busy and stayed at home to eat biscuits and drink tea 😁 rice salad and flatbreads made and yet again nobody wants the flatbreads which means I will end up eating the lot tomorrow and I had high hopes of starting a “new me” health kick tomorrow as it’s Monday. I suppose I could freeze them....MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁7 -
I’m going out today, this is very exciting! I’m following dh to a garage a few miles away to get 2 new tyres and an mot on the huge car after one burst at the weekend. Not sure how long it will take but I’m hoping I can leave him there to wait, i may even have the roof down on the way 😁
I’ve put in 3/4 lb this week, that cannot continue so I need to get my daily steps up to over about three, and probably stop eating biscuits. We have two shops booked for this week so I might cancel one, that way we may just come in under the £500pm budget 😱 it’s not like petrol is coming out of that either, I’ve started using what we have a bit more and I’m cutting back on the fizzy drinks.
The next sale coat arrived at the weekend and is perfect, so happy it’s quite roomy and nice quality. Next on the to buy list is a wooden chopping board and a few plates 😬MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁5 -
Glad the coat was a good buy!
My jeans are feeling a bit tight at the moment - despite all the exercise, I think I'm still baking too much... and drinking spirits and mixers, which is just a calorie cocktail really. Not good!Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

I think many of us are in the same boat Vix 😁
Official weigh in day for the restarted WhatsApp weight loss group is today now, it’s only me , best friend and my friend from work, so total weight on during lockdown is 4lb for me which is not great. It’s busy here tonight, front garden noisy gathering up the road, plus a lot more walkers , some small groups of teenagers who are probably not from the same house, it seems lockdown may have ended for many!Mortgage interview tomorrow at 2pm, will need to have a plan and everything ready for then. I’m also going to do all the payday transfers early as there is money in the current account still, I’ll just pay it back on payday to the offset, I’ll also update the figures early this month.MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁6 -

Oh no where’s the thanks button gone?!Thanks Jessy, I spent most of the day on the phone both to family, the mortgage company and in a queue trying to close the business gas account. Mortgage all sorted though! We are offset fixed on 2.07% for two years which has now been stretched to 2 years 5 months as the deals are always longer than 2 years apparently and we have exactly 2 years left. It does not seem ten years ago I started here and changed the mortgage from about 33 to 12 years when I remortgaged, time has flown.Minimum payment is £124.38 pm a drop of about £8pm from July. I was very honest and said our plan was to remortgage in two years which probably added a good half hour to the call 😁It’s game on again with the home mortgage now, I want to get it low as we can in the next 29 months. Spent some money yesterday though which was very much non essential £108 at emm@ bridgewater on a couple of medium bowls , a platter, three plates, an egg cup and a small plate 😱 topcashback used, 10% off code and it was all seconds which are 25% -50% off. This was my portion (£100) of the money gifted by my parents last week.MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁3
