The brewing is ds2 having an attempt at beer I believe 🙂 I have to say as I’m sooooo glad I’ve given up drinking or I would be seriously worried about he cost and scarcity of wine around.
Best friends step daughter who lives with them is a London ambulance paramedic (newly qualified) and doing long night shifts at the moment, she’s already exhausted and frustrated, many many of her call outs are people with a cough not that ill wanting to be tested and dialling 999 😡 Also was taking to dd last night who’s company has staff working at the excel centre last week who’s offices have been shut, so they have been helping to move in equipment and are upset by what they have seen before they even send patients there ☹️We are not going out except dh for work three days a week now, avoiding the supermarket for as long as possible. I did an approved food shop this morning, for anyone interested they had a pack of 9 toilet rolls not sold out (1 per customer) and I’ve ordered loads of jars of sauces, mango chutneys, Boxes of shredded wheat , stock cubes, coffee and much more. It’s seems dearer than it used to be when I bought from them years ago, but good for store cupboard bits if you are flexible what you eat and don’t mind if it’s sometimes out of date 😁MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁8 -
Struggling to think what I’ve done today, a bit of cooking again , bread, tea loaf, casserole with a hint of chicken. The veg boxes arrived (x3) and although I am very grateful to be getting them delivered, the cost for the amount is 😱 . They have been split so parents have some and I’ve done dd a box with loads in plus other stuff and homemade baked bits. Her boyfriend will still be going to the supermarket though, as he prefers readymade meals. I’ve given him a telling off but he is nearly 30 so it didn’t work 😆

Busy doing nothing for the last two days, ironing and cooking mainly. It seems less busy around here now which is a good thing, we live on a main road with double deckers constantly (usually), now there are less and they are empty all the time. Still a fair few people walking to the shops and many of them not doing the 2m distancing past each other which I have to say I don’t understand. Our local crematorium has marquees full of freezers, which seems a very surreal thing to write. ☹️Yesterday I made a “Xmas” dinner (sausages instead of turkey with a few veg) to try and brighten the mood a bit, we had the Xmas napkins out , Xmas songs on and opened one of the found bottles of wine and a bottle of gin I had put away for dds birthday and they all had a drink and a nice couple of hours. It felt a bit more normal but did make me miss dd more!Hope everyone is ok 🙂MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁8

Not managed to read all your diary, just the past couple of pages so will hopefully catch up as I go but just wanted to say I love the Christmas dinner idea! My husband sometimes makes a Christmas dinner (turkey, Christmas pud and all 😂) and I absolutely love it - shouldn't be just saved for once a year!

It all sounds good except the Xmas pud! 😆
We got a last minute click and collect from Sainsbury’s yesterday, it took forever to sort out as a lot of it was going to dd , mum and dad and great aunt and uncle, luckily most of what I ordered uncle came, he is diabetic and gluten free and all the gluten free stuff is hard to get now, wow that stuff is expensive though 😱We now have lots, which is good as people keep eating, it’s like their new hobby. Right now dh is making some yucky looking cheese egg and toast monstrosity, he never usually eats breakfast 😆
Been looking at the finances since yesterday and I do need to update the mfw figures. What is in the offset will be flipped to op the factory mortgage in the future, but I’m thinking I will make a small steady little direct debit op to our own mortgage as I can’t bear to just stop payments. Not sure where any little Tilly tidies will go yet either.MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁4 -
I think maybe I need to give some thought to Easter Sunday. We'd normally see our families for a proper roast at least at some point. It would be nice to celebrate somehow.... oh maybe a roast on Skype?!
I think everyone's new hobby is eating NG. I daren't stand on the scales!
Good idea to pay a little bit off the mortgage - it's nice to keep it going. Which has reminded me, I sent £9 over to be paid off and can do that today!Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days
