Thrilling day again today, this time an approved food order, plus the veg boxes. It took a couple of hours to disinfect everything and find homes for it all. I’d ordered loads of various t@ssimo pods as we have a machine that hasn’t been used for a couple of years (spur of the money purchase and pods too dear with lots of us!) however now is certainly time for a treat so we have a mini c@sta up and running in the corner of the kitchen 😁Ds2’s girlfriend was so bored she had a mooch about the log cabin, found some fence stain and did one side of the garden, hopefully she will do the other side tomorrow. It was worth it though as she also found 2 x bottles of ald@ pimms and a couple of bottles of tonic water, probably left over from last summer, I will crack open the pimms tomorrow night while we watch bake off, I’ll be drinking the tonic though 🍹MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁7

Busy day yesterday, went for a walk with ds2’s girlfriend and left some Easter eggs in front gardens of friends kids, then came back and stained the garden fences, then cooked us all pizza for the first time in years which came out really well and finally did a few more steps than I have been - 17k 🙂We have another click and collect from Sainsbury’s today, I’ve tried for some potted herbs so fingers crossed they are available as I want to plant them in little pots I’ve got. Im debating getting a big paddling pool for the garden online, if we will be stuck in for three months it’s something else to do if the weather is nice but I’m not sure if we can squeeze it it yet though 😆 I’ve never been so appreciative of the garden, it’s only little (43ft) and is paved with a huge log cabin, but to be able to go outside safely is such a luxury at the moment, I see it through different eyes now.Plans for today :
- deal with food shop, disinfect
- speak with dd and mum & dad
- finish staining fences
- clean whole house
-put up Easter tree and Astro turf table runner
- make a mortgage op 😁MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁9 -
Ok that list did not get completed 😂 I did disinfect the shopping and put up the Easter tree and Astro turf ( a good five minutes!), other than that I’ve been drinking coffee and passing ds1 many cans of beer as he has been dumped today 😏 as well as cooking up everything that had to leave the freezer to make way for more important food items.I then didn’t feel like eating my cooking (veggie jalfrezi) and had a doughnut for dinner instead. The others had some not too bad looking homemade burgers from frozen mince. It’s not been the best day but best friend has cheered me up by popping an envelope through the door tonight while out on their daily walk, inside was a little pewter heart with the word “hug” engraved on it 💕 what a sweetie!MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁6

Just lost a huge post!It has been a busy few days, I can’t believe I’ve not had time to catch up on here considering the circumstances at the moment but I seem to be busier than ever. I’ve spent a lot of time cooking, we had a big “Indian takeaway” night Thursday which took all day to cook. It was Red Dwarf film premier night so I had to include chicken vindaloo and then got carried away with loads of other dishes 😆
Today I’ve been revamping the garden with ds2’s girlfriend, we have painted old pots , Swept, washed, planted herbs from the supermarket instead of flowers, strung fairy lights up, found tealights to make lights when we have some old jam jars etc. It’s looking good 👍 We also baked loads of Easter treats, birds nest cakes with Nutella icing and mini eggs, little mini cheesecakes, tea loaf and fairy cakes 🎂 Dinner was giant homemade pizzas again with salad and pasta, I’m going to get huge if I don’t stay busy 😂
Hope everyone is having as good an Easter weekend as can be expected 🐥

Thanks mfd’s , I’m trying! I think having ds2’s girlfriend living with us is making me feel like I should make an effort, she must be a bit homesick even though she is used to being here. She and dh have been “clearing out” the log cabin, aka trying to offload junk into the house/the van so it can go to work /anywhere else they can find except leaving it out for the bin men and women as they have quite enough to deal with at the moment. They have then decided to carpet the floor over the dodgy ceramic tiles with a load of old carpet tiles leftover for the factory 🤦🏼♀️ There is still a wall of junk and carpet and hot tubs do not mix, however I’m letting them get on with it all for the time being, now is not the time to start a DIY war 😏
We have a click and collect again from Sainsbugs, We are spending what feels like vast amounts at the moment, however I don’t think we have much choice really. Usually they re all out and about, often eating out or buying what they fancy so having five adults here all the time makes a big difference. I’m also buying a box of beer each time as they need a treat. I would say we are spending all in around £150-£180 pw but I’m making almost every meal from scratch, except frozen pies. I guess breaking it down PP , bearing in mind it’s every meal and drink, choices are limited with often just branded stuff available ( it being a dearer shop than ald@) and prices going up with few offers available it could be worse. Goodness only knows what it would cost if I wasn’t cooking everything and being lazy like I usually am.MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁7 -
I'm also spending more on food - 5 adult appetites and 1 smaller is a lot of food and - like you- I'm not always able to offer shop/ buy the cheaper version. Not quite at your ££ level, yet, though - but I'm not buying any alcohol at all, which helps (an awful lot of Pep51 M@x, though!!)
Each day we get through is another day closer to the end...xxx
