Ah, I see re the holiday fund - and there I was ready to accuse you of wanting to spend that on another holiday! :p (Perhaps that's just me though?!)

I hope you get the apology and repair, but by the sound of it I wouldn't hold your breath!

I really need to make a start on Christmas preparations. It really feels like the rest of the year is going to fly once we hit November.

I like the idea of breaking your holiday down into daily costs too. Sounds like you found a great deal so enjoy it.

Hi Cath, this year has just gone by so quickly hasn’t it :o

Hi Radish, great to see you :D where are u thinking of going, anywhere in particular?

Busy day for a Saturday, met best friend for lunch in c@sta, went shopping in my own in the morning and the did a food shop in the afternoon with dh after he finished work. No proper food, just pizzas and naughty Halloween things :D

Bought a few bits for a Xmas eve hamper, keeping it simple though as the boys are not interested anymore so have switched the Xmas mugs to xmas beer glasses with Santa on :xmassmile on 90p each from asda, a few mugs and some £4 Xmas T-shirt’s which will be going back as ds2 spotted one and said he refuses to wear it and so will his brother, I don’ t know why I’m still trying really :rotfl:

Dinner was a takeout curry paid for dh and a whole large tube of smarties meant for the xmas eve hamper, to myself. Now feeling quite sick and have gone to bed to lie very still :o

Token op of £5 made today from current account which hasn’t been checked and I don’t know if I’m ahead or behind on the £20 a day challenge.

    OCTOBER update!

    Start figures 1st Jan :

    Mortgage £79,000

    Total at start Oct :

    £74,498.77

    Total today:

    £73,889.05

Total reduction so far this year: £7110.95

    Total Oct reduction : £609.72

Total Reduction for this year £7110.95 (£2k towards kitchen)

There’s a difference in the October reduction from what I’ve actually paid , but I think that’s due to the figures being updated midway through the month in October for sept , so extra interest :o

The good news however is I’ve surpassed the target of op by £7k that I set a few weeks ago (for the year not the last few weeks :rotfl:)

Oh wow, I’ve been made a stupid mistake! And one I’ve actually made before :o

Went to pay the first £180 off our cruise balance for next year and have paid the full balance of £1498 by mistake  that will teach me to sort the finances in bed when I’m tired :rotfl: thank goodness we have just been paid and I have enough in the account currently. Also we have a possible surplus from the builder that might help - if we ever get a final price!

Lots of juggling now required :o

We’ll I think I’m going to just reduce the builder fund from £2k to £500 :o he asked us for a list of what we had paid last week and told dh he thought we had paid enough anyway probably. If we do owe more I will sort it out.

After checking properly I've found out you can’t make partial payments for a holiday you have to ring up every time , seems daft as you used to be able to. So I’ve named a spare account I don’t use as the “holiday slush fund” and paid £20 of this months personal monthly spending fund into it as a start towards the cruise I’ve been booked for 2021, little and often will help :D
