First day back at work and not fun! Apparently my brother is going for a job interview Thursday and hasn’t told dh yet  neither have I as I’ve been out. Not sure it will go down that well as it took so long to train him and will be a bit of a nightmare. Plus dhs assistant manager has taken to starting early and leaving early, having thurs and fri afternoons off to collect the kids, oh and an early finish to watch a game last week, and today to go on a date with his wife. Flexible time can be ok, but how many customers will you be getting queries from at 5am.....
Defiantly the back to work grumps have set in, I’m turing into a moany old woman :rotfl:
Still a pleasant evening with ds2 and dd at the cinema watching a clockwork orange - a good family film if ever there was oneMFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -
Surely if you instigate flex time then this is the point of it...can you really complain if people are using it how it was intended?
Perhaps set core hours for certain people if you need more coverage0 -
If brother gets a job elsewhere that that's not really your/ DH's problem any more, is it? - ok - I get that you may be the ones to have to train someone else/ cover brother's work but ultimately you guys aren't the bosses any more and it's someone else's problem to recruit/ try for retention?

Hi choccielover, we don’t do flexitime (sorry if I was not clear) but this staff member has asked the new boss who seems to feel awkward saying no, as dh did make it clear it’s more pressure on everyone else, plus a bit unfair as most of them would like an early finish at the weekends.
Hi greent, they are very hands off and it will mean dh doing his job for many months as well as his own (he is the only other person able to do this skill) it’s not a job you can employ someone else already trained as we are a virtually extinct tradeMFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -
That's a bit pants
Tell your brother he has to stay!
Re flexitime - if the new bosses are going to be hands off about everything else, can they not be hands off about this? - can DH have a word and say that an occasional flex is fine (everyone needs to leave early once in a while if they can) but that the business isn't big enough/ has enough people in to cover flexi time on an ongoing basis?

Hi greent, he did ask dhs opinion first and then agreed to it after receiving a long letter basically begging!
Well thanks to seeing Martin on TV the other morning :money: I became aware of the fleasyjet cheap flights that were relseased this week and I’ve booked a 3 night trip to Rome in March 2020 for dh and I  £143 including allocated seats (carry on luggage of course!) for two and I’ve also booked a four star hotel by the pantheon for £234 after cashback pay on arrival :T
I’m also saving money by passing it off as as a surprise Xmas present for him :rotfl:
We do now have a holiday savings pot - well premium bond pot, but with it being low cost and a way ahead still it seems a good idea to make it a mini challenge and not touch the budget
So flights obviously had to be paid upfront -£143.84 thats going to be paid from remainder of April’s £20 a day budget , currently £460 and a carry over amount £1.20 left = £461.20, minus £143.84= £317.36 left until May 5th- £13.80 per day in other words.
Still have a few Easter eggs left to buy for family too
In other news my ever so slightly lazy sons have done nothing towards booking driving lessons, I’m very tempted to just put everything toward the mortgage for the moment! If and when they bother I shall redirect it again, so that’s the lessons/car/ins pot until further noticeMFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -
Keep the money, although they will do it as soon as you spend it

A good start to the weekend with a lovely big op of £400 emptying the teenage driving lesson pot
Plans for the weekend are staying out of the way tonight at home as the boys are having a poker night with friends back from uni, possibly a cinema trip or hiding upstairsTogether with lots of ironing, hopefully a long walk and some Game of thrones watching before the new series starts
