Apparently good, my parents brought some with them and took it home afterwards! I’m not a fan of stinky blue cheese so had some Cornish cruncher From m&s :D

    2018 update!

    Start figures - JANUARY 2018

    Mortgage £47,049

    Loan £14,941

    Total at Jan 1st £ 61,990

    As at today:

    Mortgage £79,000

    Loan. £0

    Total today; £79,000

Total reduction so far this year: - £17, 010

So the reason for a £17,010 higher figure is due to the fact that our business was going under and we had to clear the overdraft and pay off a loan, our main customer then took over - saving everyone’s jobs but taking then company and assets (except for the building) which we are now renting to them at £2k pm plus vat with a five year mortgage of £80k odd to clear, phew!

So £31,506 loaned to the company long term , so in real terms a net reduction of £14,496 this year - way under my target of £40K :( however we have had a fair cut in income since the takeover, plus a bit of a spendier year than usual with our boys turning 18 and Dd turning 21 all in July :D

So finally a plan is coming together :D

Target for 2019 is to pay £16,000 off the mortgage. The term ends in April 2022 and due to the business problems (plus dds course fees) we can no longer afford to clear it in time- Boo!

So my idea is to get it down to under £25K by the time the term ends and clear it with a loan or stoozing. To do this we need to pay a minimum of £1460.57 pm on £79K  that’s about 48% of our income now which should be achievable.

    Budget wise :

    Food and petrol £500pm

    Xmas/birthdays £200pm

    Everything else £200pm

Direct debits and car mot/ins / home ins are saved for monthly too.

That’s literally every penny gone each month so no room for overspending anymore :o

Things still to pay for this year are:

Spending money from fiords cruise - currently have £300 but need another £350 odd to pay for parking and book trips plus pay for drinks (and spa pass to avoid parents when required :rotfl:)

Posh meal out in January for best friends birthday, her hubby has booked as a surprise

    Xmas market night away

Possible best friend weekend away - been abroad the last couple of years but need to massively reduce the costs or cancel.....

Xmas fun fund - opera, theatre, meals out etc.

Night / weekend away with dh - somewhere other than York I’ve we can afford it, parents flat if not :rotfl:

Possible driving lessons to those that wish to partake- this is at the bottom of the list as I have prioritised my wants first :p

It probably looks like a silly list when on a tight budget, but I am determined to have more fun this year. My diary title is “pay off mortgage and start having fun” well, it’s been nearly nine years already and will be another five on so on top if we are lucky, that’s too long to wait for fun so I’m having fun now :D

Yet another day at that feels like a Sunday! I’m almost looking forward to going back to work now  I am actually leaving the house today though :j meeting best friend for breakfast in town in a lovely healthy “hipster” type cafe :D when I get home I shall actually do something (other than watching tv and eating!)

    To do list:

    Washing

    Ironing

    Mopping floors

    Food top up shop

Look for something for friends birthday

Well then hipster cafe was shut this morning so less money was spent having tea and toast in c@sta. All the kids are out tonight so we are partying at home aka watching a bond film with a cup of tea :rotfl:

Bit of online shopping done, couple of fleeces for ds2 for work and a shirt in the next sale bought with a £10 code for opening an credit account and the remains of a gift card- total cash cost 55p :D

Also ordered a few toys in the sale (best friends youngest son birthday) and used £14 credit balance found on an old credit card. Plus I’ve requested a refund of credit from our energy company.

From now until 3rd Feb I’m living off £400 cash in “pursey” my seperate cash purse :D Pursey is usally used as a whip purse on girls days out or holidays, currently though he’s going to be paying for all the food and diesel for the next 34 days.

Surplus in petty cash tin looking healthy at the start of the year at £280 in notes plus change.

Happy new year to everyone _party_

    Cheers fortune, you too :)

Everyone is going to turn cinema today to see the favourite, I do want to see it but the lure of an empty house is almost more appealing - I can get loads done :o

Time to set monthly challenges again I think, it’s been a while :)

    JANUARY:

    - stick to £400 budget for food and petrol

    - cancel WW and go it alone target 3lb

    - track all spending

    - excercise at least twice a week

    - have a monthly date night /day with dh

    - paint the top floor bathroom

Nothing too taxing there really, don’t want to overstretch on any targets, slow and steady this year :D

Also I’ve just checked and today is my 60th day alcohol free  (those need to be cups of tea :rotfl:) still feeling like I won’t (and probably shouldn’t) drink again as I’ll end up back where I started Boozing way more than is good for me. Can’t believe how much better I feel all round, except for struggling to get to sleep initially. Nobody thought I could stick to it!
