I hope my everybody had a great Halloween, I took a half day and went to the cinema with ds2 to see Halloween which we enjoyed a lot, very like the origional forty years ago!
Then back for prosecco, crisps and a bit of sweet handing out, dh set the ring door bell to scream at people and the cat often scares people due to her loud voice and "unusual" looks, for some reason she went to answer the door everytime :rotfl:
I've been thinking about my mf journey the last few months, which has been fairly bad really! I've defiantly had a feeling of what's the point and "it's not fair having to put all that money into the business when I resisted spending it for years" type reactions. Quite childish of me at times really.
For the next two months spending will be high, there's no pretending it won't bewe are away on a four night cruise in two weeks, we are away in Bath for best friends hubby's 50th the week after and in york for the Xmas market in December.
Plus I have:
Xmas traditional day out with best friend - from breakfast to dinner via afternoon tea :rotfl:
Repeat without the breakfast for Dd , mum and aunt
Very swanky Xmas meal in "beach blanket Babylon" with the Italian girls
Xmas work do
Possible new firm Xmas work do
Girls night out
Friends girls night out
50th party in a wine bar
Dd night out
Dh, best friend and hubby night out
Halloween curry tomorrow
Bonfire party sunday
Girls night out to ballet
"Indian elvis" night out
Just dh and I Xmas meal out.
That's it so far! But its a lot of spending  plus we are hosting Xmas for s first time.
So with that in mind I'm going to try and stick to the budget and pay £1345 pm (as much as I can) and I'm also hoping to make daily ops on top, it might not make a big difference to the balance but it may reset my thinking ready for properly getting back on it in 2019.
So starting today:

I'm carrying on the finding money theme today as I found £10 on the floor in the shopping centre, there was nobody nearby so I kept it, That can be tomorrow's op!
Took back the sequinned dress I bought weeks ago in next and got a lovely green velvet pleated skirt instead, should be good for a few nights out with a little top and can be dressed down with a jumper.MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -
At least money is being spent on memories and not just 'stuff'June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0

I guess so cath , memories and a fair bit of wine probably :rotfl:
Mum is poorly so she's cancelled tonight's spooky curry as she doesn't want my aunt staying over, pity as I'd spent ages decorating the table last night, with Dd away and ds1 ill we won't bother either now.
Ive lost 1lb this week at WW, I feel a bit cheated really as most days I've really not had much to eat at all, I've taken today off to have a few teats and enjoy myself
£10 op made today from the rather large roadkill I found yesterdayMFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -
In bed already after a day of sorting out ironing and getting clothes ready for the cruise, also been super tired after a very drunk ds2 came home late last night and I couldn't stop checking he was still alive  He of course woke up totally fine first thing and went for a fry up! He has spent the day clearing his room after dh bought him a cheap new Ikea wardrobe, it's a mammoth task sorting through his stuff....
I'm currently debating trying to give up alcohol (again!). Whilst trying to stay awake to check on my little angel last night, I was reading a few sober blogs. I know I drink way too much and always have done really, I'm just not sure if I'm making it harder from myself with massive amount of nights out coming up - and the mini cruise etc. However if I'm going to stick to it I have to be able to do it whatever plans we have.
I spoke to dh who said just drink on nights out etc. but I have to be honest I don't think I am a person who can do that, sometimes I can, but other times I really can'tDh is not a big drinker at all.
It almost feels like I know I will drink way too much over the next two months if don't do something, but the thought of having to make excuses and explain myself to people doesn't feel appealing even if I can stick to it. My family are worse than my friends too!
Anyway, no alcohol today and I decided on an early night with a cup of tea and some maltester truffles ( from the Xmas box)
Op today £2.11 courtesy of tcbMFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -
Why do you feel you have to explain yourself ? Would you feel you had to explain if you didn't want to do anything else or is it just alcohol that you feel this need ? Only asking so you can think about it yourself you don't have to answer on here.
You have a couple of choices - explain using the truth -you have been watching some of the programmes recently about alcohol and are trying to cut down for your health. Yes some people won't be able to cope with that and will say just have one, everyone drinks this amount etc etc but that's mainly because they know they should be doing the same and are embarrassed so trying to make themselves feel better. Try to ask yourself if they were all jumping off the proverbial cliff would you do it too just to keep up with the crowd.
Or you can fib and say you really want to drink but you are on some sort of tablet that doesn't mix. If anyone pries further say it's women's stuff or something and they will prob let it go.
Or drive to these events, nowadays everyone accepts the I'm driving excuse without question.
Think you are best to go cold turkey as having one and saying you will nurse it etc never works. One leads us all to lower control so 2 sounds like a better plan but after 2 there's no way we want to stop at that.
Believe me it gets easier. If you waver at all people sense that. If you just say no thank you, they might question it but they do get the message and accept it - yes some folk take longer to get the idea than others but you have raised your kids to think for themselves not to slavishly follow their pals, so you can do it too.
Think of the money saved (no one buys as many soft drinks or teas/coffees as you would buy alcohol drinks at a night out), think of the empty calories saved and think of the clear head the next day. Its perfectly ok to go to things and not drink, keep telling yourself that and don't be swayed. Its a better choice to make so pick the strongest reason for you and keep remembering it, it will become second nature before long and you will wonder why you didn't do it years ago.

(Just to clarify where im coming from - I've nothing against alcohol and have drunk plenty of different drinks in my day, but I feel it's something you do as a teenager and grow out of, i can't understand adults wanting to get plastered as quick as poss and lose the next day to a hangover (not saying you do that I'm talking about people I know) - I'd rather have the clear head even if I then get to watch folk make absolute prats of themselves slavering absolute rubbish but thinking they are having a great time that next day they can't actually remember. If you want yo drink then go for it, this is merely my encouragement to you newgirly since you are expressing a wish to do something different)22: 3🏅 4⭐ 23: 5🏅 6 ⭐ 24 1🏅 2⭐ 25 🏅 🥈⭐ Never save something for a special occasion.
