Pay off mortgage and start having fun!

Just quickly going back to the IO thing, I have friends who are paying IO with their logic being 'house prices will rise in the future and we can clear the mortgage' but where will they live, they're in a FTB property anyway!?!
Amazon vouchers - i think my survey pays out in them and you can get around £10-15 a month from Bingoport. Takes around 20 mins a day. Am sure there must be others too.June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0 -
I was wondering how many of you MFWs are overpaying on the mortgage so you can buy an even bigger/better house when you have finished.
I'm not! We've moved house 9 times for DH's career even though this is only the 3rd house we have bought (rented the others). When we moved here we knew it was the final time (as he had reached his career goal) unless we chose to move again so I deliberately chose a house that was big enough for the 5 of us when the boys were grown up. Even though we did rattle round it a bit when they were very small. (That makes it sound like a mansion, which it isn't, it's an Edwardian 4 bed terrace with big rooms and high ceilings).
I never, ever want to move house again, I just wanted to be mortgage free!!0 -
Thats nice to hear AM that you love your house, I'm tying to love mine more, but I wish I lived somewhere else sometimes, but then I also want to be mf and that is more important to me than moving fro the moment.
Thank cath , I will look at bingoport, I think i may have registered before but never played, I've just started my survey again as well.
I have made an unexpected op today, £85! DD is going on a school trip for 3 days over the royal wedding bank hol, and needed a few minor things, I am very skint at the moment but then noticed that dh had 4 boxes of floor tiles left over from the log cabin floor yesterday, so i took them back to BQ for a refund, along with the mirror border tiles I bought for the bathroom (on second thoughts mirrors will always need cleaning!), and also the two halogen strip lights fro the garden as we have decided to have a ceiling fan as its so hot in there. So I bought dd's sweets and pj's etc. and op'd the rest, thus again avoiding the temptation to book centerparcs for at least a little while longer.;)MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -
As well as bp i do swagbucks as well for amazon vouchers. It has taken me a couple of months to get to £5, but i am not good at remembering to check the surveys, codes and offers, so i tend to only get a few points per day for using the search toolbar when i am using the internet to go to my normal sites.0

I'm going to be sitting around for ages waiting for this sofa today. If you fancy joining, let me know i can refer you and tell you how to maximise getting the points. I have had about £8 off them this year so not too bad and i haven't been trying my hardest if i am honest.
Good luck getting that little lot done. I should iron too, but the board would be in the way when the sofa arrives.0 -
That's a great refund amount and unexpected OP's are a bonus. If only all OP's were that easy. Sounds like you have a busy day today!June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0

Still loads to do on the list, I'm getting no-where fast, spent a fortune in mr s on food plus lots of drinks for the new bar £96  , I got very carried away and was going to have to pay it back from my wages next month, but dh has just said that he has been paid overtime for the bank hol which he should'nt have been, so as he's in charge and does about an extra 4-5 hours a day free he's keeping it ! I need to use £30 from may's budget and that should be it covered, lucky or what.
I do need to stop getting carried away though, I think its easier not spending in winter for some reason.
Thanks michelle, i shall give swagbucks a go if you can refer me, the more the better, I need to stop spending and start upping the earning.;) Hope the sofa arrived safely.MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -

I think it's definitely easier not to spend in winter. So much easier to stay in in front of the fire watching TV rather than going shopping, and some of the kids clothes always seem to fit them in the winter whereas in the summer they always seem to have grown out of everything! There are far more days out to be had in the good weather, plants to be bought for the garden, projects like yours are so much easier to handle when it's dry.
I could go on all night...............0 -
I've just sent you a PM about swagbucks plus another couple of survey sites you might not know about. Let me know if you need to know anything else.
I'm also in agreement with Auntie Mable. we hibernated all winter, and then the kids seemed to sprout like beanpoles with the warm weather. I'm sure it makes them grow. And we also started decorating and gardening.
I'm hoping DH gets paid tomorrow as otherwise we are already overdrawn and i am doing a birthday BBQ for DS2 on Monday and i need to get food for it. I could serve noodles from the store, but i don't think it would go down that well. Otherwise it will be interesting.0
