I don't blame you mfd's I'm not exactly keen on that part either :rotfl:
Dh and I went out for a summer meal offer at prezzos last night, not too bad as we have not been out for dinner for a couple of months (it was becoming weekly) but we stopped for a couple of cocktails first
lovely but expensive - so our £15.95 per head night the became about £80 all in
This I should probably because I know the budget will be ruined with the party now to be honest.
SATURDAYS PLANS:
* Finish all washing and change all beds - boys out all night so good chance to do it.
* Go to Debenhams to try and get a nice dress in the sale- best friend has instructed me I need to treat myself to one for the kids party, I ended up going to the races last week in a ten year old Tesco office style dress and didn't feel great in it. Have sported a couple in the coast sale online but don't know what size I need.
* make a list of what needs buying for the party and pop in £1land to make a start
* stick to slimfast, have been good all week but not last night!MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -
After hours of trying i found a dress I like but it was too small, came home and ordered online for less money - hooray £99 to £39 plus tcb :T bright turquoise summer dress from coast

Dh is in a horrible mood this weekend, no idea why he just seems to have woken up like it yesterday, so I'm hoping ds2 will go to the cinema with him and cheer him up. Think it's work stress probably, but as usual he doesn't recognise that and blames me for nagging/asking what's wrong etc. I'm trying not to get drawn into an argument as I've enough on my plate at the moment and am actually in a fairly positive frame of mind considering how worried I am about the boys getting jobs
SUNDAYS PLANS:
* do all ironing- need to start now really while it's coooler
* do guest list for party and invite people
* do meal plan to eat down freezer as we will need the space for ice
*clean top floor bedroom/bathroom, I often give up past the first floor when cleaning :rotfl:
* update June's mfw challenge and my monthly op figures (around zero this month!)
* make new plans for finances to accommodate massive party spending

Hi newgirly.
I've found some time to read more of your diary and I think you're doing great. The children won't be 18/21 again so you'll soon bounce back with your finances, and you'll all have some great memories of the parties to look back on. :-)Mortgage Balance: £162,615.84 (December 2022); £163,945 (November 2022)
Current MF date: Feb 2032. (Previously: Jan 2033)
Target MF date: May 2027
(Overpayments needed to achieve this: £1,750pm!)
Joint spend: £391.09 (Nov)0 -
Thanks IAAM

Things didn't go as planned yesterday as dd rang and asked us to lunch in the pub where we used to live (lovely little village pub with huge garden) with her boyfriend's dad , sister and sisters boyfriend. We have only met the dad once so thought we should make the effort!
The pub had a two hour wait for food so we ended up having a fairly rubbish expensive for what it was meal at the harvester, plus a few drinks - it's not been a healthy or cheap weekend. I have not finished my to do list either as daytime drinking in the sun is not really conducive to getting stuff done
MONDAY:
* do Sundays to do list, except ironing which is done
* pop round mum's and register passports/insurance for cruiseMFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -
Great bargain on the dress NG

Pity about the expensive but rubbish Harvester though

Oh dear the England game kicks off at 7pm - weightwatchers weigh in time  I REALLY want to get weighed as they forgot the scales last week! May have to dash over early and hope for the best.
It's cc day again, well it was on the 1st July , the statement is not made yet so I'm not sure whether yesterday's £56 odd Aldi shop will go on ok or still be added to last month. When this mortgage is gone I'll start a new system, perhaps YNAB and a different current account.
I looked at the (massive!) shortfall yesterday and decided to do what I usually do- reduce the amount we live on for the remaninder of the term instead of adding the extra month as we can't afford to do this :rotfl: budget is now £600 pm instead of £750 , it's not a realistic figure but I'm in denial we have overspent
On the plus side the reduced payment again in July means I will also have squirrelled away:
* party food budget £120
* cake £240 (hopefully way over budget!)
* lunch on boys birthdays at cosmos £120
* spending money for holiday with best friend £300
* money for Xmas night overnighter with best friends and dhs' £280 (still need spending money)
* bouncy castle budget £140
Xmas I will have a budget of about £1100 which is less than we usually spend and this year we are hosting for possibly 14 or so  the kids will have less is year due to the big birthdays, Xmas money is coming from novembers budget , that's always been built into the end date plan though.
I'm trying to get through July as it's going to be so excesssive, August the boys are at a couple of festivals including reading which would be a brilliant time to have a realaxing break with dh, not having to worry about leaving them alone at home - im really trying to resist this at the moment - centreparcs is calling
if we do get desperate we could go to york and stay in my parents flat - which is barely getting used! Temptation in york is to spend though as the flat is in the city by all the nice bars and restaurants :rotfl:
Anyway past July -
August - could go either way, holiday booked and blow the budget or a super tight budget
Sept onwards - traditionally a dear month due to birthdays - dh, mum, dad, brother , plus a three night holiday with best friend!
Will attempt to "get through" realistically the best I can hope for!
Oct- Dec is tradiationally the time I try and do a really low budget except for presents. I previously did a live off ££££ budget for the next three months challenge - I will probably do this again as it does make me more more accountable!
Phew, that was a bit of a waffle, I'm off to work!MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -
Be strong NG! And go to York if you're desperate... it's got to be cheaper than CP in August! Could you research free stuff to do, allow yourself to eat lunch out (usually cheaper than dinner) and eat in in the evenings?Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

Hi vix, I know you are right

Life seems just too busy at the moment, the boys are still job hunting bur also spending a lot of time at various 18th birthdays / World Cup viewing parties etc. which equals less sleep for me, I'm going to bed and just setting the alarm in he early hours to check rather than wait up, sleeping in the heat is not that helpful either! I went to bed with a bad headache last night at 6.30
Still I'm getting my own back, ds2 came in so late Tuesday (England playing!) that I woke him up at 6.30 and he came to work with me - if I'm worn out all day due to his late return he can help me, he was very good natured about it
We have a 50th fancy dress party today, our asssitant manger's birthday. Dh is going as maverick from top gun and I'm just in 80's clothes, we have a few people coming to us first to watch the football so I need to do some food and clean up. I will drive I think as after yesterday's headache an afternoon into evening party in the sun plus drinking will be too much.
No idea how the finances are doing, i seems to be spending lots on the party, will have to brace myself and take a look soon :eek:MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -
What a game yesterday :T only problem now is the semi final is on Dd's 21st  we have an afternoon tea cruise booked then a champagne trip to the London eye ending at 6.30 pm :eek::eek:
Some friends are supposed to be meeting her at a pub in Tower Hill at 7pm (kick off time!) hopefully they will still come! Not spoken with dd yet but am also hoping she wants to watch the game and find a different pub with a screen. Can't mess up dds 21st - but to not watch England play a semi final _pale_
Brilliant 50th last night, home at 2am and I didn't drink but still managed to have the funniest night with lots of dancing, jokes and fun with everyone from work, the birthday boys wife was clearly not as keen on spending time with any of us - when we arrived it was just everybody from our firm in fancy dress and the couple whose house it was, all their friends and family did not dress up. She also didn't really speak to any of us and then went to bed at midnight!
He had a great time though, which is all that matters
Dh wants to go to a classic car show today (in dads lotus elan) I dont fancy this due to 1). Too much to do at home and 2). I'm terrified when he drives the thing :rotfl:MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0
