    Horrible thing to have happened NG, thank goodness you didn't go downstairs a few seconds earlier xxx

    Thanks greent and GG, I think they left quickly as they heard me coming down. I must have extra sensitive radar when my lot are out for the night

    Think I might buy a "ring" doorbell, my parents and brother have them and suggested I get one ages ago, I just felt it was a bit big brother watching the kids come and go all the time, perhaps it would be a good idea now, also we don't have our dog anymore.

    Awful, awful, awful. Thankfully no-one was hurt and 'stuff' can be replaced. Take some time for yourselves today without the chaos of doing. Find some 'space' to think and process.

    Cheers jimmy we are fine, I was more worried about dh going out there, he's done it before in the past but he's 45 now and there were three of them, you never know what you are dealing with.

    The police found the van fairly nearby, they said as its a hire vehicle it had a tracker so they left it, they also left my keys (including house) so we have not bothered changing the locks today and will just get the door changed next week. Factory locks had already been changed. Police won't release the van back for a while though, plus the forensics lady didn't even bother dusting anything but our door as there was no point- including my cards and bag etc that was dumped.

    Other than the drama it's been a good day, despite most of the men of the family moaning about the pointlessness of watching a royal wedding, we did watch it :D I had a big glass of 11.30 am pimms :beer: plus around half a homemade lemon drizzle cake. Ds2 even joined in rating the outfits, ds1 slept through it :rotfl:

    This afternoon dh , ds2 and I went to see deadpool which I absolutely loved, then home for a chip butty for the first time in many years for dinner (not on WW today due to shock :p) and am already in bed.

    Im counting my blessings today, one of which being that on reflection that I'm glad it was last night they broke in as 1). All the kids were out and 2). The kitchen and house was spotless - this is unheard of on a Friday night, what could be worse than a police visit with a stack of abandoned dishes in the sink :rotfl:

    Time to give myself a talking to and acquire some motivation! I've been fannying around and not focussing on what I need to do to achieve the goals I want to. It's time to do something about that!

    The things I've said I want to do:

    * PAY OFF THE MORTGAGE BY APRIL 2019

    * LOSE 29lb

    * GIVE THE KIDS GOOD 18th/21st 's

    The only things that will be defiantly achieved on that list is the kids birthday plans. The mortgage plans have stretched since I started this year to June 2019 already - not taking into account we may get a new front door.

    Weight loss has been up and down losing the same few pounds for a long time now, current weight loss 9lb out of a 29lb target :(

    I could say that circumstances have made it difficult to stick to budget, however I know that is just a small part of the picture. The reality is that as the balance is relatively low for us now and we are closer to end that I'm spending more money. A steady drip of more meals out, more clothes buying (I've lost some weight - enough to tell myself I deserve new clothes!) more everything really.

    The weight loss is being hampered by my tendency to go from one extreme to the other, working hard during the week to eat well and excercise, then going overboard treating myself at the weekends as a reward, the weekends start from about Thursday though... plus I am drinking more than I used to, quite a bit more actually, I'm not sure why but it doesn't help the money situation or the weight loss.

    So I think it may be time to address all of this!

    THINGS I WILL ACHIEVE IN 2018

    * PAY £ OFF MORTGAGE (to be added later when figure decided!)

    * LOSE THAT LAST 20lb

    * HAVE A GREAT JULY CELBREATING THE KIDS BIRTHDAYS

    * STOP DRINKNG - OR AT LEAST DRASTICALLY REDUCE

    * GO ON A SHORT BREAK WITH BEST FRIEND

    * HAVE A NIGHT AWAY WITH DH AND FRIENDS AT XMAS

    * SPEND MORE QUALITY TIME WITH DH -GO TO YORK FOR
    WEEKENDS TOGETEHR FOR EXAMPLE

    So I should probably plan ways to get all this to happen. I'm already paying for WW and a gym membership so everything should in place except my motivation :o

    The only way to achieve the financial goals is to stop unplanned spending, I know exactly how to do this after many years on MSE :money: this time it should be easier as it's by choice not necessity.

    As for the drinking, rather than just trying to rely on will power, ive just bought a kindle book on how to stop for £3.99. I come from a family who do drink on a very regular basis, wine with dinner, coffee and liqueurs etc. it's all very normal, except there's no real reason for me to drinking so much except habit.

    Anyway today we are off for leaving drinks for a friend's who is moving to Devon with her family (lucky thing!) so a low spend day as I will drive instead of getting an uber and having a few glasses of wine :D

    At the risk of being my own cliche, I shall be posting some new plans later to get some of this stuff done and dusted :rotfl:

    Well done anyone who came across this and managed to stay awake :T

    Morning ng

    Great plans there, you sound really focused. One thing I noticed is how on some of your posts you meet family and friends at shops or you go for a mooch about the shops either yourself or with your friend. It's just a personal thing but I only go to a shop when I know I need something ie food shopping or a new pair of jeans or a jacket. If you go looking aimlessly you are bound to see things that tempt you ie a halterneck top :rotfl: and if each thing is 'cheap' it doesn't seem like much but you know how quickly it all adds up.

    Well done on how far you have come, I know it is sooooooo easy to get down about how long it all takes and want to 'treat ourselves'. You know that's a problem for you ie even in your list above how firm you're being about getting it cleared in April but then we have your usual Xmas break but also a girlie weekend and now going away with dh. :beer: :rotfl:

    Keep going, we are rooting for April 19 :T:T:T

    Hi Daisy thanks for popping by :)

    I am one of those strange people who love going shopping :D Even in my most frugal years at the start I used to go regularly to meet family or friends for a coffee. I don't want to stop doing that, but admit that where I used to go and come back with shampoo or a loaf of bread, it's more likely to include more now!

    The April end date is not achievable but it's possible the June one may be. The Xmas night away is already booked, the girly weekend I could do without , but I don't want to :o

    Compared to our old budget we should be fine as long as I track everything and don't self sabotage.
