I have emailed the lady about booking the cottage for 2 nights for Alton towers :D it still going to add up to a fair whack as there will now be 8 of us :o

    Cottage £274

Tickets 2 days x8 £292 (still saving £56 on online prices with dds boyfriends discount!)

Then the other descision - we need to take 2 cars or hire a mini bus. Dad will probably lend us his BMW X3 which would set another 5, but I am worried about dh driving! I usually drive long distances as I worry he will be tired and nod off (he never has of course, but I still worry!) the cost of a 9 seater bus is £179 for 2 days getting back by 6pm or £197 for three days.

It would still be dearer, but would mean 1 X petrol and parking at Alton towers per day, plus we can all go together :D I think I am swaying towards it.

Not sure about how it will al be paid for yet! £75 surplus from last month and a lot to find! Approx the above expenses plus petrol £100 ish? One meal out on last night £140 ish? Oh dear it's £1000

Maybe I should have kept a bit back from grans money :o

That's very kind mfd's, it's still weird to hear people say they read my diary, even after all these years :o Please don't worry about p and o 's bank account, no doubt they will be getting plenty of our money in the future :rotfl:

They're getting some of mine now! :rotfl:

    Well done on the overpayment.

Yes muser, as its a break rather than a day out I thought we should, I'm going to claim it as the boys 16th birthday treat too if I can :D

Perhaps buying shares in p and o would be an mse thing to do :money: :rotfl:

Actually, it really is, if you are a regular cruiser.

If you have 100 Carnival shares you get additional On Board credit for each cruise you do.

Only trouble is, the shares are around £33 each at the moment, so it's a big outlay.

A few years ago the shares were about £20 each. I really kick myself that I didn't invest - there'd have been all that capital growth, dividends and OBC. :o

I guess having lots of cruises would maybe make it worthwhile- it would have to be lots though

I've had a very good day so far :D popped round mums to give back the suitcases as they are away this week and dad game me a cheque! They had dropped hints that me and little brother would be getting some money (he has planning this deal for 20 years actually!) when he sold some property this year , but it's now happened and we have been given £50k

I can't quite believe it, we have never been given money and now we have had money from grans house and then this. Clearly I have been on the mortgage spreadsheet since I got back :rotfl:

Nothing can be paid off until August now, but if I managed the normal op's (that may be a stretch longer term) and an extra £15 pm on top we could have an end date of the twins actual 18th birthdays! Payday is on their birthday, so the actual day!!

That would mean putting every penny to op's for 24 months from August and most of the money from June / July (except money to cover Alton towers and a few hundred spare for a treat for us)

It's not long at all, and would mean a perfect tie in with the end of the two year mortgage deal and the boys birthdays (also dds 21st the same month)

I think my parents would like us to spend a bit and have even mentioned a car they have seen for sale for a few 1000's that I would like, the temptation to but something is there but with a perfect tie in end date I can't do anything but go for it with the mortgage can I, it will mean probably being quite frugal again, but it's so exciting we have to try!

Wow! What a fabulous gift, 2 years is not that long at all to be MFW and just think of the car you could have then! :j
