Happy New Year, just catching up with your diary.

I went on my last family holiday at 14 (youngest of three, the other 2 had escaped by then ;)) and it was awful but we did go on holiday with my Mum and step dad last year for a week and it mostly worked well. It helps that we have similar interests and expectations of what we would do/spend before we went.

Are you putting your recipes in MFP? There is an option to upload a recipe from on line if the recipe is on a website somewhere. You can then tweak it if necessary. It will save any recipes you load on there manually so you only have to load it on once.

Hi xspender happy new year, thanks for the mfw suggestion I will take a look. So you are another one who didn't like holidaying with parents as a teen :D is there anyone out there anyway who did enjoy it ? :rotfl:

Washing up to date, roast dinner cooked and eaten, along with (cooked)

    Red pepper and lentil curry
    Cauliflower and chickpea balti
    Parsnip soup
    Tomato chilli pasta

It's taken most of the day to do that lot, don't think I will be only eating clean all the time it's soooo time consuming.

Dh has man flu (ie. a slight cold) which is seriously annoying! If it was a work day he would be out for 12 hours, but as its not he is too ill to move from the armchair.

I never minded going away with my mum as a teen - and we often went away with her until into our 30s :)

My teens don't mind coming away with us (think they're similar ages to your 3, ng? - DD is 18 and DS1 is 15, coming up 16) - although we're planning Florida this year (so an 'exciting' holiday) they're also content with London, Centre Parcs, a villa abroad... DD is ok anywhere as long as she has books to read. DS1 needs an internet connection to keep him entertained - and/ or a warm swimming pool :) The only thing they struggle with is camping in this country in the rain - but even then books and Nintendo handheld consoles will usually suffice (and they'll probably stay in their bedrooms in the tent) They like playing boardgames and card games together as a family, too - so we usually do that on camping trips (we do it at home, too - but make sure we pack stuff for camping as it's inevitably wet!! Thankfully we have a HUGE tent, and they each have their own 'double' room in there, so they can still get their own space and hide away if necessary. They're also big enough to stay behind if we take the smaller two out somewhere they're not keen on)

Perhaps myself and my family are just weird?! :D;):D

That's lovely greent, I don't think you are weird at all :rotfl:

Mine did enjoy centreparcs last summer, but didn't get as involved as they used to. A villa abroad with great wifi might be a good option perhaps. I would like to try and have one more go at getting them all away, it's just finding the right thing I guess.

Struggling food wise today and have gone over by 164 cals and am very hungry :o I suppose yesterday was under so it even out. I've realised how many calories were going on drink both alcoholic and not, I never drink sugary fizzy drinks but do have white coffee and tea all day long, plus the wine in the evening

Off to check the accounts now.

Why not actually ask your children: would they like to go away and if so, where? :)

Hot drinks can be quite shockingly calorific, my wife gave up Costa / Starbucks after reading the amount of calories in whatever it was that she used to order from them... which reminds me, she'd been saving the money usually spent there. I'll have to ask her how much she saved. :)

How much water are you drinking NG? Try drinking more and it might subdue the hunger.

Hi aj, not much water but lots of green t :D

Hi Alex, I have asked them, they don't want to go anywhere! However I have found a brilliant but expensive idea, I tried looking for a big house /castle and found one which is "haunted" that sleeps up to 26 in Suffolk. They could all bring friends with them. Called old Neptune in Ipswich, we could do a couple of days mid week after they twins exams and it's also their 16th birthdays in July. (And dd's 19th) I could drag my parents and possiblly aunt to up the average age a little.

It's ahem , £1850 for 2 nights  but so tempting, we could have a scary theme and dinner for up to 26 in the dining room - amazing :D it's also our 20th wedding anniversary so we could celebrate that too :D

... I know of a big old house complete with a scary relic that you can visit for free. ;)

Seriously, £1850 / 26 would be £71.15 per person... could you perhaps all pay this amount? That way it won't have cost you much.

:rotfl: thanks Alex , what dates are free in July? :p

I couldn't ask the kids friends to pay, my family yes! I think 26 is too many anyway, it would be a teenage takeover so I don't think any our friends would go.(all our friends have littlies) So most of the cost/work /cooking would be by us. However it would alieviate any guilt about family holidays and we could concentrate on clearing the mortgage and going on adult only posh cruises. :D
