  • Hi NG,

    Happy New Year!

Just saying hi and thank you for my birthday wishes :)

Re calories and drinking - the good thing about using MFP is at least you know what you are consuming and you can say "i'm 240 calories over" - it is much better than not knowing and you can then try to correct the 'overspend' if you want to. Re alcohol I am aiming not to drink Monday to Friday (I have included Friday as otherwise it is tempting to get home at the end of a long week and drink too much and then feel rubbish on Saturday morning).

That's just my two cents if you want another opinion :D

Congrats on the weight loss so far, that's excellent! :T:j

    Have a good day.
Current mortgage as at start of diary 14.08.15 - £245,990.00
    Mortgage balance as at 04.01.20 - £123905.51

Hi wtrs, I think that's a good idea which I will probably do when I do start drinking again, but I might have to do Friday too :D

No work tomorrow, am taking mum to bluewater shopping centre as we have not done that for quite a while, just need to steer clear of the cath kidston shop (although I do need a new purse!)

Definatly making concrete financial plans by the weekend and posting them so I can hold myself to account :D

Whoops, first fail of the year! last night I drank at mums house with a lovely takeaway :o the takeaway was planned, had a lentil curry and only had fruit for breakfast and salad for lunch to balance out the cals.
The drink was a conscious decision too though, I thought I am doing a balanced approach to the new healthy eating way of life (not diet ;)) and going for abstinence with alcohol. So I have quit dry January, but still won't be knocking back the wine on a regular basis, and will post on here if I do drink at all, to make sure it is still occasional :D

The good news is I have now lost half a stone, and feel relaxed about he whole thing, not panicky that I have a time scale to lose it by or a figure I have to lose each week, it can take as long as it takes and I will continue to have naughty days like yesterday sometimes.

Dh and dd at work today, lots of housework and washing to do, nothing planned this weekend except best friends little boy's 1 St birthday party tomorrow, he is soooo cute!

  • Are you MFP ing newgirly? Will you add me? Gratefulforhelp.

Have you tried switching to skimmed milk? You do get used to it and it makes a big difference over several cups of coffee a day.

Not a good day today, did a bit of clearing at grans and dh took the unit home for us and it broke on the way :( it has 2x black and 2x White sliding doors and one of the black ones has smashed, he stood it up in the van (with my dad's help I should add!) instead of laying it flat

It's an original 60's pretty valuable piece, I am not happy as dh's comments were not exactly apologetic.

I did find a few more things round there, a letter from me saying thanks for taking me to London zoo dated August 1982, plus school books of mine and birthday cards of my little sister who passed away when I was five, a bit of a sad day really. The house is now more or less empty and has been painted white as it was all very blue as that was their favourite colour.

Anyway, birthday party this afternoon and I think I will go on my own, dd is in bed ill, dh has a cold (plus I am still quite upset with him, and strangely him with me!!) and although the boys said they will go, it's probably not their sort of thing.

Still no concrete plans financially, hopefully will have time later to go through it all again.

Lovely first birthday party for best friends ds, left everyone at home and went alone, party food for dinner and I have not used mfp for two days, very naughty and will be back to tracking tomorrow. :o

Loose financial plans for this year are:

target 30k off what we owe (mortgage, cc, loan) prioritising mortgage and making minimum payments on the rest.

Make minimum monthly payment to clear in term ie. £1839

Attempt to make £300 pm over the op figure if dh's wages work out more from April

Save anything he might get paid over the £300 and try and have a good holiday before the kids refuse point blank to come with us :D

  • Sounds like you had a good day in the end :)

Plans look sound. I've made zero progress in the first 11 days of the year!!! Christmas financial hangover. Will need to go super frugal in Feb!

    Not a great Monday!

Alarm didn't go off so I woke up over an hour late, then a van in front of me reversed into me on the way to work, I got out and looked and didn't see any damage (it is quite dirty!) then spotted a flipping great dent when I parked at work about the size of a satsuma.

Dd ill and off sick so I felt bad leaving her home on her own

Then the car failed it's mot

A day working for dh even though we are still not really speaking :rotfl:

Then home to a crying dd who is having problems with a boy at college making her life a misery

Then saw a family member who is having problems

Then dropped ds1 at the maths tutor £40ph and she charges another £50 for a binder of papers and past exams eek!

Oh, and the man I sold Eric to text me to say he is selling him and do I want to buy him back :(
