I had a mark 1 escort NG in dayglo yellow!!

In my Essex girl days, my first car was a mark 2 Escort in purple!

  • No way I loved that colour - it was metallic I think?

Yes, a metallic purple - it was so 1970's!

It was completely unreliable and let me down on several occasions, but I remember it fondly:)

I suppose it'd be a classic car now.

In the mid 80's we needed a cheap second car, so we got another Mark 2 escort in white. But it had no character at all, not like my purple one

Funny you should all start mentioning Capris on here! A few weeks ago someone from our local classic car club bought a white 2.8i (can not get any more 'Essex' :rotfl:) and last week I managed to blag a drive of it. Have to say up until this point, I had no interest in them. However, after a drive I was rather impressed and think it would be something different to own for a while. :)

There's not a big following for classic Fords up here, in fact they're quite a rare sight.

They had some beauties yesterday , dh used to have a 2.8 1983 one, can't imagine may 18 year old apprentices affording to insure a car that quick nowdays.

Poor ds1 spent the night on the sofa after a very large spider woke him up walking across his face last night :eek. He is not normally scared of them so it must have been big. Sheets washed and i have sprayed the box room with heavy duty bug killer i bought for eric. Not sure what else to do, I'm faking confidence its ok, but I wouldn't be sleeping in there tonight "shudder"

I have lots of work this week as a nice job has come in, we have also tendered for another job bigger than any we have ever done as a large company hasjust gone bust, we can't do it as cheap though so we will have to see, but if we did get it the future would be a lot more secure.

  • Yes, £200 for a hen do, and they want to do commemorative t-shirts. Another of my friends from within the same friendship group had a hen do last year which cost £300 for essentially a weekend sleepover in a posh house, but I had a legitimate excuse for not going as it clashed with my cousin's wedding.

I'm sorry about your gran having to go into a home. How do you and your family feel about it, and your gran?

I know nothing about classic cars. But purple is my favourite colour, so I like the sound of that car. I have a boring, sensible Focus, because of the back seat and boot size (family of five with DD1 who is 6, DS who is 2, and DD2 who is 8 months). I really want a Suzuki Swift.

Good luck with the tender. When will you hear about it?
