Wow that's different  :rotfl: never would have thought of paper chase for xmas trees though?!
Just went to the frozen food store and spent money I shouldn't have until next week. Lots of treats for a Saturday night buffet in front of the TV , chocolate covered fruit, chicken lollypops and other naughty stuffthey did have a good offer on joints of meat so got chicken, Turkey and lamb ready to chuck in the oven in a tin £6 each or 3 for £12 :T
I need to go through the accts and assess the damage, good job it's payday Monday so not much chance to run up too much more spending before then.MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -

Not great news today, the bank manager has run our proposal past a underwriter friend unofficially and it looks like it will be a no probably.
I have been trying to think of other options and really there are not many except borrow some money to add to the deposit. We have the weekend to think about it and do a bit of research.
Dh does not seem as worried as me about it all, I think he has kind of given up worrying about it all as it seems there are never ending problems. Judging by how quickly the owner agreed a price ( below value in my opinion) and the fact he has sold all but three of his twenty units since last year , we could be out whe the lease is up in two years
It's all a bit deflating, it's years worth of scraping and overpaying we will be borrowing back.MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -
The mortgage stuff is a bit over my head but I hope you get it sorted.
Good news about your blood results too, is your throat feeling any better?
Re: Christmas trees, do you have one in every room??? ETA, I love the idea of lots of trees. Friends of ours have a huge hallway with open staircase and could get away with a huge tree which makes me a little envious!
We have an extra one this year as my mum downsized and has given us her amazing tree! Not sure where anything is going though as we have bought a fireplace since last Christmas! I got all my advent books too so they all need wrapping for the elf to bring!June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0 -
I think business financing used to be easier in the old days, when it was the branch bank manager's decision on whether to lend or not.
When I started work in the 70's, the branch manager was the one who decided on lending - it was much more personal, and generally the manager would know his customers very well.
Most of the time these days the bank manager doesn't have much authority at all, and it's all decided by remote underwriters who don't know the customer at all
I hope you get a positive reply, or can find an acceptable way to progressEarly retired - 18th December 2014

Hi Goldiegirl, you are right it has changed a lot! We had a mortgage interview for our first flat followed of course by the hard sell in pensions and life assurance which we also bought - being very young and clueless
Hi cath thanks for popping in, my throat feels much better than it has done, don't want to tempt fate but hopefully it wont come back, it has been quite distressing the last few weeks to be honest.
We went to look at trees yesterday and dh did buy one :T (our record for amount of trees up cath is six by the way!) it's a nice traditional one 7.6 ft like our big old one but slimmer round the bottom, £70 down to £38 at bq this weekend only if anyone Is after one, it's good quality
The house is a bombsight this morning as I spent most of the day wrapping and making cinema hampers, I also bought some baileys in Mr t last night as we needed to take our shop over £40 to get the £5 discount t voucher and baileys happened to be the closest item to the till, ahem. Then when I got home it accidentally fell open so I had to drink some.MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -
We have a severe lack of transport at the moment, first the work van broke down on Thursday again , today our zafira broke down on the way home from the Inlaws
The car has been towed to the local garage and my dad is taking me to work tomorrow as he works fairly nearby. Only problem is we were Going to do our work daily london deliveries in my car as the van is out of action. One of the guys from work will lend us a car I'm sure it's just a pain.
Other than a long wait in the rain at the side of the road it been a good evening, ds2's bedroom has kind of turned into a second lounge and everyone keeps ending up in ther watching Netflix, we are currently catching up on the first series of Gavin and StaceyMFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -
The garage could not fix our car as it needs a new clutch we have had to pay £60 to get it towed to the clutch centre as the aa will only tow once (even though it's dh's work membership with the full bells and whistles on!) so a new clutch at who knows how much , the work van just cost £700 for the same thing.
Worse news than that is we have been turned down for the mortgage on the unit. But strangely the bank manager has said it may be possible for us to add the loan to our mortgage. I have no idea how as we can't even remortgage the £140k we owe now as the accounts show a loss plus that would be the max we could borrow anyway.
I think the business could pay us rent towards it , but still it seems unlikely. An advisor is supposed to be ringing is tomorrow, if it can be done it would be great however adding over £100k to the mortgage for any reason is very :eek::eek:MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -
Not a great day today, first the clutch is going to cost £570 and also we have been told it's a definite no to the mortgage through the business or us remortgaging the house.
The bank manager said he only option is for the directors to take personal loans out each, which is not an option really except for us. No idea what the next move is or what effect it will have on our finances.
I think the best bet is to stop oping the mortgage for the time being until we know what the situation is in the next few weeks, and although it's not the best timing try and cut all spending as much as possible.
One good thing is we are not hosting xmas or Boxing Day, but we still need to find money for butlins in a few weeks and I've got family over for our usual "pre xmas, xmas dinner"
So back to the old style waysMFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0
