Is the base colour black/navy/grey?
Usually yes alchemilla, although I have seen brown used online too.
Wow I didn't know there was so much interest in capsule wardrobes maybe it's because we all like a simple life :rotfl:
Yesterday was hectic, lots of visiting teens which I fed with bacon sarnies and hm popcorn, ds2 went to see Derren Brown last night with a friend who had a spare ticket so we are all quite jealous , plus tonight he has been offered a spare ticket for the England game, lucky little whatsit! I shall offer to pay again and if the parent refuses buy him a case of beer.
I have got a few things done which I planned money wise this week:
1). Bought another silver coin -Canadian 1oz maple £20.21
2). Set up a standing order for £50 premium bonds pm
3). Set up a dd to pay dh his money instead of cash
4). Set up a new NW regular isa saver 2.75% £300 pm put in
5). Made a £116.00 op on one of the 0% cc's
6). Put £200 in a seperate saver towards treats / extras we need sometimes/ holidays etc.
7). Topped up saving for the kids birthdays now complete ready for July £450
Still no news on the money dh is getting, but we got a redemption figure for the loan £11,860. Plus dh wants to give the kids £1,000 each in an isa or premium bonds. Pay the balance of the Disneyland paris break and keep a little back for my 40th next year.
Plus he booked tickets for us and dd to go to the royal Albert hall tomorrow to see Star Trek into darkness film/ live musical backing.he went to see gladiator there earlier this week and loved it so treated us , I think we will eat out first too
The boys won't be left out as he will take them for dinner and a trip to see the new hobbit in London later in the year on a boys day out.
Next month starts the proper repaying of the mortgage again. It's still IO for the moment but I am making payments as if its a 15 yr term (£969 ish I think) plus :
£50 pm premium bonds
£300 regular saver isa
£220 minimum 0%ccs
£40 work pension
£50 seperate saving for future- not sure what yet perhaps another pension
£20 ish a month on a silver coin
Plus I need to work out how much to save towards holidays in the next year as we are going to butlins this December for a weekend and we may book centerparcs for a week next summer possibly with my parents as a treat for our birthdays
Defiantly trying to go for a more balanced approach with the oping, plus it will be nice to have more of a slush fund each month and some savings, hopefully it will lead to more regular smaller opsMFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -
Just been catching up NG, great news about the money coming your way and yo seem to striking the balance between enjoying some and putting the rest to good use.June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0

Well the money has hit the acct  not for long though as after I've transferred the loan amount and given the kids £1k each in a new isa dh wants the rest in his acct. ( to keep it away from my sticky mfw fingers
) no really he is paying for the disneyland paris trip and keeping the last 2k ish (i am sure for my 40th which may involve a cruise
) I would like him to go out and buy himself something though, I am sure he will do, but he works very hard and doesn't spend much on himself usually.
So the only debts we will have soon will be the mortgage and 0% cc's :T still a long way to go but we are getting there slowly and getting rid of the rest of the loft loan at 6.4% is a big help! it still feels terrible owing about £13,500 on cards but in my defence it was transferred from the main loan to get the loft converted as we didn't (couldn't!) add it to the mortgage.
Plans for today:
Make money transfers
Strip all beds and wash
Pack stuff for twins to stay with parents for the night
Wash blazers
Get ready for tonight - dd and I were talking about what to wear to the albert hall and thought we could go smart casual , but dh says we need to both dress up posh if he is going to be seen out and about with us :rotfl: cheeky whatsit (he was of course joking!)
Tidy and clean top floor (it's untidier than dd's room at the moment )
That's it , hope everyone has a good weekendMFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -
We had a good night out, very worn out after a nightmare journey in high heels though, stations shut, part of our tube line shut on the way home, tube so packed we couldn't get on for a while. But the concert/film was great and dinner was nice, although it was shockingly expensive for drinks at the albert hall.
I ordered some southend theme park tickets from clubcard yesterday, the last of the vouchers now I am shopping at aldi, we will take the kids soon, other than that I am struggling a bit to think of days out they want to go on this summer. I did suggest using the old tent and camping as we still have lots of stuff, but they were not keen at all!
The best plan may be to get the garden and log cabin sorted, and just let them have lots of friends over in the summer, we have a teen friendly log cabin with a hot tub and a big tv it just needs a little clearing and a thouough spider check.MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -
Yay for money arriving!
And double yay for Disneyland at Halloween, that'll be fantastic. I'd love to go at that time of year, we went for the Christmas decorations last year and it was pretty epic. I'll dig out our spreadsheet (:o) with all our handy hints & tips for a cheapish DLP visit & share them asapa penny picker upper. I am curious as to where you're getting your silver coins so cheap - eBay or similar? I was looking at one of the big online sellers and they're currently something like £25 delivered when bought singly :eek:we have a teen friendly log cabin with a hot tub and a big tv
You're very tolerant - if I was a parent I suspect I'd not let them anywhere near a hot tub! :rotfl:0 -
Hi pearla, that would be great thank you very much
Hi Ed, they are from atkinsons bullion which I found on one of the forums here on mse , they do seem a bit cheaper than other places, and it's quite fun checking the prices all the time - today's price is good £19.70 for a Canadian maple incl vat and delivery
Today was a great day , firstly I had the day off and helped my best friend collect the rescue dog she has just flown in from Cyprus from heathrow, he is an absolutely gorgeous beagle cross, although very skinny and a bit shaky from the excitement , but has settled in well tonight with the family.
Secondly dh has managed to get tickets to see prince tomorrow night :j it was only announced this morning and is a a 1500 capacity venue in Camden so we will be really closeprince is dh's absolute hero so he is beside himself.
They sold out straight away and were being sold on within minutes for £400 each instead of the £75 we paid each  he had every available computer at work manned by staff and they all had a try and we got lucky. As the doors don't open until 9.45 pm and he is notorious for playing for hours and hours the tube will have stopped so we have to drive, but Camden is literally a borough with no parking anywhere so we have managed to hire a space on someone's drive nearby online for £12.50 which is a bargain for London parking.
I'm very glad dh has paid off the loan with the money we got otherwise at this rate we will have spent it all on fun nights out within a few months :rotfl:MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -
Oh how lovely, he works so hard, I hope you have a great night :TA positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

Thanks for that name newgirly, my shiny sense is tingling
Do they use Special Delivery for single coins? If so (we always miss the postie), I'd probably wait and buy 5s so that I don't set myself up for a weekly trip to the delivery office.
Fantastic news re. the Prince tickets. I got to see all of my musical heroes as a teenager and there is nothing quite like the atmosphere in a relatively intimate venue where a big act is playing!0 -
Hi ed, yes I signed for them
Prince was amazing last night , it didn't start until nearly 11pm so was a very late night (I have the day off so am still in pjs) Although we live at the end of a tube line we rarely go into london , but now the kids are getting older it would be nice to get out and about more.
The plan for today is :
Long soak in the bath
Coffee
Have a good mess about with the mop calculatorMFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0
