NG, how did you plan your capsule wardrobe and what's your breakdown of items? I'm now going to look at capsule wardrobes on Pinterest.Pots: House £6966/£7100, Rainy day Complete, [STRIKE]Sunny day £0/£700[/STRIKE], IVF £2523/£2523, Car up-keep £135/£135, New car £5000/£5000, Holiday £1000/£1000, MFW #16 £2077/£3120

Congrats on the Disney Halloween break, something lovely to look forward to...... I'm sure Disney will be a great place to be at that time of year too.0

Hi alchemilla and Peonie, I googled it originally but to be honest a lot online were more smart work type wardrobes that could be dressed up for a night out. So basically went to the n*xt online website and bought everything from there! it sounds very wasteful but the truth is I dint have any decent clothes at all really anywhere as I am always " about to go down a couple of sizes" so it's not worth buying
Capsule wardrobe :
A navy chunky knitted long cardi
Navy short sleeved patterned front tunic
Bright red with cream flowers short sleeved tunic
Casual navy marl loose t'shirt
Pale blue pinstripe grandad shirt
Long floral maxi dress navy
Couple of plain vests red/navy
Cropped pale jeans
Dark skinny jeans
2x navy leggings
Navy raincoat with cream piping
Scarves - navy, cream, navy with polka dots
Bright red with cream flowers cami (same print as tunic)
Navy floral above the knee dress (wear summer or winter with tights/leggings)
Navy pumps with a navy bow
Beige high ankle boots
Tan flat casual biker style boots
Navy cath kidston spotted handbag
That's all I can think of at the moment , a few bits I had already, some was from primarni and new look the rest next.
They say online to pick a base colour so I chose navy then added red and cream, I have just bought a matching print vest and maxi dress from primarni which have turquoise blue and yellow in to pep it up for summer.
Alchem, why not pick a base colour plus red and cream for summer , then update for autumn and swap the red summer pieces for purple autumn ones ?
Hope this makes sense , I still have lots of older stuff knocking around in the wardrobe but that's laziness on my part, I really do only really wear the capsule wardrobe nowMFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -
Now theres an idea.
Is the base colour black/navy/grey?0 -
I love how you ladies rhapsodise over the benefit of capsule wardrobes. All men that I know run capsule wardrobes by default because clothes shopping is a strange sort of hell for us :rotfl:
Joking aside, the concept is quite a good one, it seems to be very popular with the minimalist/frugal 'set'.
I think mine would be something along the lines of:- 2 suit jackets
- 3 suit trousers
- 5 shirts
- 2 pairs of jeans
- 3-4 T-shirts
It's easy being a man sometimes.0 -

Mr Gt has always had more clothes than me, I think - he used to have 2 double wardrobes (1 with two layers of clothing) and half of my double wardrobe!!! He still has some items in mine, now! And has FAR more drawer space than me lol! His wardrobe goes something along the lines of- about 8 suits
- goodness knows how many ties
- at least 2 dozen work shirts
- 2 smart trousers
- tux, wing collar shirts and real bow tie (probably a cummerbund too)
- overcoat
- duffle coat
- raincoat
- several fleeces and hoodies of varying warmth (by several I'm guessing about 7 or 8)
- 3 identical pairs of jeans
- about 4 pairs of Dockers
- 3 pairs of craghoppers
- a couple of pairs of combats
- Shorts... quite a few
- A dozen or so 'nice' shirts
- LOADS of tshirts
- Soft and smart jumpers in varying colours - maybe 7 or 8
- Casual jumpers - 3 or 4
- Rugby tops - 4
- Trackie bottoms - 3 or 4 (all the same)
- Shoes.... quite a lot, although not s many as he used to have!
- and more stuff ......

That is so funny - i know exactly how you feel, Mr T has way more clothes than me :rotfl:
Mine could basically fit in a normal two door wardrobe with one hanging rail - Mr T would need 4
How does this work though - he doesn't like clothes shopping which means when he does go, it's a splurge. Thankfully given our changed ways, he doesn't do it any more. I imagine he will be wearing his current stock for years. He did buy a few work bits recently though but I would not describe that as a splurge.
NewGirly, sorry for hijacking capsule wardrobe thing.
I really like the idea of navy - when I open my wardrobe it looks like I'm off to a funeral. I'm alright in the spring and summer, providing the weather's ok as I saw a personal shopper last year which set me up. I sold quite a lot of stuff to help fund the new clothes and I have very few clothes now but they work together (need to lose more weight to get full use though). Winter is a different situation and I need to do a similar exercise. I never thought of looking at Next - will take a peek.

I have always thought it must be easier to be a man.
The thing with NEXT is you get lots of things that mix and match so it sort of starts the job for you.0 -
I saw a colour consultant earlier this year and that was fantastic..... Knowing which colours actually suit me stops me from buying items that look great in the shop but end up being unused.
I remember I used to buy some lovely items but each time I'd try to wear the item, it wouldn't look quite right, so would end up languishing in the wardrobe.... now I know it's because the colour just didn't do anything for me.0 -
I've always fancied going to a colour consultant but the price has put me off. I know red suits me though.Pots: House £6966/£7100, Rainy day Complete, [STRIKE]Sunny day £0/£700[/STRIKE], IVF £2523/£2523, Car up-keep £135/£135, New car £5000/£5000, Holiday £1000/£1000, MFW #16 £2077/£3120
