Such a busy few days since we got back, dh went straight back to work. The builders were not here yesterday so I managed to clean up a bit. Last night we went for an Indian for mums birthday (dad's treat ;)) and I had way to much wine so not feeling like doing the work I need to do for dh today. :o

I need to catch up with what everyone's been up to, there seem to be a few new diaries to read as well.

My 100 day challenge started on Monday just gone, but we were away Until weds , instead of my original idea of £15 a day I have decided to go for a more challenging £10 a day for food plus everything else spending money. I 've not included petrol in this or Xmas / birthday presents.

So far I have spent a bit on yellow sticker stuff in mr t and a birthday cake for mum (should have made but no time!) so there is about £15 gone so far, I need to check the receipt.

We have lots of odds and ends to use up food wise and plenty of tins and spices so with a bit of planning it should be ok. I feel its all so chaotic it would be very easy to slip into doing quick mini shops for prepared food for dinner like I used to in the bad old days when our food shop was out of control. But I will not succumb :D

Hope everyone is having a good weekend.

I have given in and gone to bed , everyone else is up but I still feel rough  I have sat around all day, the only thing I have done is make a big batch of onion bhajis as I fancied some and made a slow cooker batch of red cabbage /onion/apple as I bought 2x reduced organic cabbages the other day reduced amd they needed using.

The inlaws came over but only stayed about 40 mins , very strange as we don't see much of them really , it probably took that long to drive over.

We had two men knock today, one wanting some of the loft beams next to the skip to build a garden fence and one to ask if we recommend the builders. I hope the builders didn't want the wood for anything as it wasn't on the skip, maybe I should have checked but the little old guy seemed sweet :D

Not a great day today, dh went to work at 3.30am this morning as he is stressed and couldn't sleep , so has therefore been unpleasant most of the day refused to eat the roast I cooked and went upstairs to watch tv.

Things are yet again about to come to a head his with work (famous last words!) and there should be big changes soon, could be good or bad we will have to see. But we had such a lovely time away and then its back to the reality and stress and we are back to square one.

Anyway, to compensate I have eaten a LOT of food today, which was not a good idea as the pounds are creeping on at the moment and I need to sort it out. Other than that everything is going swimmingly :rotfl:

This week I'm hoping to spend some time catching up with mse diaries/updating challenges I have fallen behind with and crossing some jobs off my list that need doing.

Dd is off to the royal opera house in London this week volunteering for something not sure how often it will be but its going to be tricky as someone will have to get her up there and back as I don't fancy letting a 16 yr old find her way back at night alone.

Off to think of some lists I need to do so I can get stuff done this week.:D

Ohh ng could I have your bhaji recipe? When you make a batch do you freeze any or do they disappear quickly?

Sorry your DH is getting stressed with work, I hope it gets sorted soon.

If only there was a way not to overeat when annoyed there would be no need for slimming clubs!

If DD is volunteering isn't there anyone she could travel with?

Hi sml save , will look it up and write it out - its a readers receipe from a girl called jacks blog and they do freeze well if you are not a pig like me :D

Today I'm working from home for dh, not sure why as he's still in a foul mood :p and have already done an ald* shop (£33) mostly lunch box snacks and fruit and veg and also some tins of soup for my lunch as I'm on a diet again. I do make my own but fancied some shop bought too.

The plasterers are here today, and joy of joys they both don't like tea or coffee so that's a couple of hours saved making it :rotfl:

Off to do some work and not eat the chocolate in the fridge :D

    Onion bhaji receipe :

    14 tablespoons plain flour
    1.5 tsp turmeric
    1.5 tsp cumin
    1.5 tsp garam masala
    1.5 tsp chilli powder
    1 tsp ground coriander
    1 tsp salt
    2 eggs
4 tablespoons lemon juice (fresh or bottled)
    6 tablespoons water
Veggies- 1.5 kg onions or a mix of whatever veg you like, I have tried onion and grated sweet potato which was really good - Saturdays batch was minus a few onions and some grated carrots instead.
    Vegetable oil

Sift flour and all spices into a bowl

Beat eggs water and lemon together

    Stir into flour/spice mix

Add more water if required until its a thick batter consistency , leave to stand for 5 mins

Thinly slice veg/ onions (i grate spuds or root veg)

Jack does not say to cook onions and or veg first but I do - fry off until soft in a bit of oil

Stir all veg and or onion into batter

Heat a few big glugs of oil into a pan, drop mixture in a heaped spoon at a time leaving a bit of space between them, after a few minutes gently turn over and cook the other side .

    Drain on kitchen roll

    Eat :D

Hope that was easy to follow!

Ps they freeze fine wrapped in a bit of foil , whip them out a while before you need and let defrost to eat cold or reheat in oven. Be warned though they are very moorish.
