Hi cath, thanks for popping in
Op's made yesterday 10p, today drew out all my budget from now until 24th April (£165 left) and op'd the remaining £9.
I've been reading lots of blogs lately in particular the mortgage free in three one, a single mum with two boys trying to clear a £126k in 3 years whilst being a stay at home /work from home mum. It's great stuff with lots of good receipes and has made me think about my budget again.
I have good intentions of frugal meal planning which I usually stick to, but still end up buying lots of crisps/packs of chocolate bars etc. so I'm on a mission to try and make stuff to feed my lot cheaply and a tiny bit more healthily during the Easter holidays. The irony is obviously the healthy part- being as its Easter the family will buy them lots of eggs :rotfl:
Is seems to be the only area I can cut back the spending usually, its not like we spend on much else at the moment , and don 't really seem to do a lot of spur of the moment spending very often now.
Getting the loft done has kind of done me a favour with the budgeting as apart from the odd treat, the kids and dh are getting more used to "we can't afford it"
Tonight we have my parents over for a curry, they get one every week anyway, we all pay for our own, but this time I have cooked mine and dh's main courses from scratch to save money ( I offered to cook some for my parents but they want the proper stuff!) so that's around £10-£20 saved hopefully, its usually at least £ 10 a head. The money saved is going towards buyingus all burger and chips at alton towers for lunch on Sunday, it was supposed to be packed lunches but its too cold for that.MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -
We had a very lazy day yesterday and are planning on having another one today. Poor dh is in work again (unpaid naturally) trying to make a head start on next months jobs so they can try and make a profit and pay the wages.
Dd has come down with a cold, not ideal when having to spend the day outside freezing tomorrow, the boys are glued to their xbox's after a breakfast of chocolate eggsso we are a family of slobs today :rotfl:
Hope everyone is having a good Easter weekend :icotbaskeMFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -
DS 2 has stolen my ipad this afternoon, which has done me a favour. I have been sat working out figures on the op spreadsheet on the pc.
I've reduced the amount I will live off the during may (no money in april for that ) and paid it off the 0%cc . so i could get the figures to fit better, and have also reduced the grocery budget by £36 pm for the same reason.

There is no excess anywhere in the budget except for groceries from june onwards, so i will try and be even more organised there, and also sell some stuff on flea bay and try to cut down on the wineMFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -

Sounds like a great plan.
I've been trawling back through your diary trying to find out what exactly you decided to do with your loft after you got all your quotes for your different options, but I haven't found it. Would it be very cheeky of me to ask you to remind us all, to save me reading the entire diary, which would doubtless be delightful but would drag me away from less pleasant things that I really ought to be doing?Starting again 13/4/19Home loan 1: £21,102.50 Home loan 2: £7,698.99Total owed: £28,801.49

Ha ha! Way too much to wade through to try looking for old posts Lois :rotfl:
We had 2 quotes and went with the one which my friend had used before, we are having a dormer right across the back and a bedroom and bathroom put in, cost £27,830 not including bathroom suite/tiles/flooring. Starting hopefully in june
Off to load the car up for alton towers, its too early and too cold ! Have a good Easter :easter_baMFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -

Our day out went well
there in time for early opening and the park was covered in snow and empty all morning with zero queue times on all rides
It got busier at lunch time as literally thousands of travellers arrived, very interesting to watch the young girls in mini shorts and cropped tops in the snow, it was like an episode of my big fat gypsy wedding. But no trouble and still virtually no queues :T
The hotel was fab with a nice pub next door, the only problem was I went over budget by £66I paid all excess cash off the o% cc at the weekend , so I need a plan to make it up or else it will have to come from the food budget.
